• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what are you feeling right now? (24)

I don't have depression. But in the past when I've struggled, I felt like it was all hard, & you'd go out into the world, & everyone would just be laughing, joking, smiling, & treating it like it's all just a big comedy. They would treat it like if you have a problem, it'll go away if you try hard enough.

Just laughing if off never helped me. Some things don't go away 'trying hard enough'. Real problems stick around, sometimes despite your best efforts & time.

I thought it might be helpful posting this here. It's okay not to be smiling & laughing when it's hard.

Also I found the Bible more helpful

Hold these in your heart. Even when the waves are roaring and the storm is against you.
Hold these in your heart (For with the heart man believeth):

Psalm 23:3, "He restores my soul"
Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
3Jn 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Psa 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Hold Fast to the Confession of your faith:
"My soul is restored, I am strengthened with might in my inner man, I prosper and am in health even as my soul prospers. He has given me rest. I do not fear, for He is with me. I am not dismayed for He is my God. He has strengthened me. He is helping me. He is upholding me. The LORD is my light and my salvation; I fear no one. The LORD is the strength of my life; I am not afraid of anything!"

Be it unto you according to your faith.

I had a hard morning. It was heavy and final. But it lifted and was just a perspective of not enough dissolved oxygen. its almost gone, like part of my brain was still asleep, the positive side. Now it’s like the light switched on. This causes me to feel resilient like some others, like I want to go on. It was very dark, now it’s alive. Light and dark, good and evil. So stark of a contrast. It’s almost over but I feel twice shy.

so many things I’ve become shy about doing. Such great darkness takes place when I do Something. So I just sit here so often. There are rewards for doing something helpful. But sometimes it is a stab in the back. Not literally. I forgive, I repent, I start over, but it has a residual hanging on, a heaviness.
