  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do we lose our sexuality in heaven?

So we just stop being sexual beings? Sex is big part of being human after all.

We would still be men and women when we come to dwell in eternity with God, we would not lose our gender and our expression of it, there would be our expression of our sexual identity in greater production than we ever had here in this world, without activity of sexual relations involved or ever depended on. There will not be any need for that felt when a greater bliss is always experienced.

Do people think we actually do much in Heaven besides kneel before God and worship him endlessly for eternity? I've always thought of Heaven as a place where we just kneel and worship forever. Being in the presence of the Lord will be so wonderful that we won't need or want to do anything else. It will be like one continuous moment of happiness that never ends.

That is pretty much the description of heaven that we have in Revelation.

Someone must be resurrecting the dead, threads that is.

This is a painful subject, though a good example about why we need freedom of religion. People struggle differently. Some are going to be offended at anything and everything related to sex, no matter what, and I wouldn't expect that they can be forced to be otherwise.

Some people are affected negatively by the counter pressure. Children have been castrated over such things. Others, abused, in more ways than one. Religion can be extreme, and extreme things can warp and twist people.

After all my life's experience, what I can say is one shoe does not fit all, and the bare minimum that should easily be the least controversial, is that proper morality requires a modicum of respect for one's neighbor, their privacy and their private parts. As for myself, I know what I find to be harmful and what I believe God has led me to believe on related sensitive subjects, and because of that, I know that we all need freedom of religion to find life and peace, without which, we'd be back in the stone ages of the Roman empire when they were killing christians over trumped up, false charges.

I don't appreciate undue pressure about being married to male spiritual entities, or about transgendered angels. I think it's potentially harmful, and sends the wrong message which was never intended to be preached in that way. I think it's a quirky remnant of Gentile Christian thought, not something I should send my child to sunday school to learn, but I understand that that's not how everyone interprets the same. I'm willing to give respect and allow others to think and believe in ways I believe to be odd, and I expect the same.

Although, in retrospect, I feel it is such a waste to not comment on the subject when, after having suffered through it, I experienced things that I personally believe to be relevant.

In a nutshell, I would summarize it as this: everything about the human experience, as we experience it as fallen persons, is fallen. It falls short, of something. Call it something that once was, or something as it was meant to be, I don't know exactly, but sex or sexuality being included in this (not a focal point), likewise falls short. Love becomes unlovingly covetous (meaning at the expense of your neighbor). Self-control gives way to selfishness and loss of control. To be fallen, is to be fallen indeed, not a mistaken creation.

To me, this notion that creation must be edited seems like a mutilation of that something, as if divinity or even the human expression of it, if we can call it that, even could or should be modified. On any level, I have never been able to make sense of these notions without assuming something like a marcionistic demiurge to have been the culprit behind a mistaken creation.

This is just not my view. I can't reconcile it with my theological position, either experientially or rationally.

Parting thoughts on the imago dei

[Gen 1:27 NKJV] 27 So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

[Col 1:13-16 NKJV] 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed [us] into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

The reason, I ask because it said we are no longer given in marriage and we are like angels. So are just stop being sexual brings? Sex is big part of being human after all. Your input brothers and Sister in Christ.

We are in a fallen state with the cursed world we are in from that, which worsens with ongoing sins. Redemption through Christ was always the plan though relatively few among human people respond to God and come to Christ for that in repentant faith. Marriage and the sexual relationship that just marriage is right for is a provision as a type for union there should be for us with Christ who is over us with dominion he has. That is just like there are many other types for us in this fallen world while we do not all generally live like people were to live in the unfallen state in the garden for us of God's perfect design, being as God made us with no suffering, sorrow, and death from anything, including any of us, just eating of what is in the provision for us in the garden and nothing other than that, which is all sufficient. We have anything else in how we live only with our life in this world after the Fall, with waiting if we came to Christ for the restoration through the redemption in Christ that we hope for, which creation groans for, to come to that way meant for us, as it is in Heaven, for which we just have types now. Sexual relationships as such types are just approaching the bliss we would have in that.

The more I gave thought to this, as others dismiss Christianity over excuses as faith in Heaven that would be without sexuality, I think then, if it is Heaven, what is to stop any among us there from blissful sex we find possible? So then there could only be what is even more blissful besides that those there in Heaven will always prefer.

Sex is an idol for many, in one day 23,000 Israelites were killed by God because of it. If you think He will allow it in heaven, you will be disappointed.

Sex was not all bad, as adulterous sex was in such examples.

No one going actually to Heaven will be disappointed. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love him. Paul who wrote of the experience of going to the third heaven and seeing what was not lawful to speak of wrote this that we find at 1 Corinthians 2:9.

If sex is not engaged in among any in Heaven and there is not even any temptation for it, Heaven has what is necessarily more blissful. There are verses as these that suggest that. God has so much grace, from God's love, for us.

I think reproduction is only a part of sex, because God made it enjoyable too. It is an expression of intense intimacy between lovers, and illustrates the relationship that God has with His creation. It seems a bit out of place that it would be taken from us if our bodies are to return to this plane of existence, but at the same time food consumption will somehow remain, as someone pointed out. The implications of a resurrection and eternal life draws the conclusion that reproduction won't matter, but so does being bound by other human limitations. If you think too logically about the concept of a resurrection and glorified human existence, there is a lot of unanswered questions that arise.

We in this world easily think there cannot be greater bliss than what we have with sex. But God is not limited. In heaven we may be provided, as I believe we really would be, with what gives more bliss, which we cannot think of in this world. Paul wrote what we have in the Bible at 2 Corinthians 12:4 that he knew one who "was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter" which may be of this greater bliss, which we do not know yet.

That's exactly what I think. God made the pleasure centers of our life. He is unlimited in the ways this can be done as a reward in eternity for those who have been following His ways. Reproduction is necessary in the present life, and so God rewarded that process by giving it pleasure. But if God should stop wanting that He can certainly withdraw the pleasure. Oh my! ;)
