  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I believe this is blasphemous

Who holds the whole world in HIs hands?

Only God.

Trump is not God. He doesn't have the whole world in his hands or on his back. He is delusional with this stuff.

Also, dragging the flag on the ground is disrespectful to the flag. According to the Federal Flag Code:

(b)
The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.....
(d)
The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
How can this be defended?

So he is comparing himself to Atlas? He is a weak Atlas if so.

He doesn't carry the weight on the whole world.
Atlas is always depicted as being under the stain of carrying the world as a heavy burden. It's where the idiom of "carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders" comes from. According to online definition: This idiom means to appear overwhelmed by extreme worries, responsibilities, or stress. It implies that a person feels entirely responsible for fixing problems or taking care of everyone around them.

Given the photographic evidence of how the US presidency ages office holders, former US presidents might disagree.

For whatever reason, a few statements Jimmy Carter once made while in office come to mind. Once he was overheard muttering in church that the subject of the lesson / sermon "...probably blamed the United States: Everyone does." Then was his remark that he knew people were thinking better of him because they were waiving at him with all five fingers. Actual statement. It was likely uttered as a joke, but he once told a group of journalists that he didn't have anything important to say, so they could put away their crayons. So yes, there's pressure there, and if it doesn't feel like the world is on their shoulders, something is likely wrong somewhere.

Note: It's not a slam on Obama, but the Mad Magazine cover of his first minutes in office probably has a grain of truth for all presidents.

I disagree.

Psa 95:4

And the breath of all mankind?

And weighed the mountains in a balance
And the hills in a pair of scales?

Regardless if it is a copy of Atlas or not, it is egotiscal for a president to promote himself as God or god-like. Or to post images like:

What grown man or president promotes himself like that? It is narcisistic and delusional whether he pictures himself a Jesus, Atlas, Constantine, superhero or pope.

If Donald Trump thinks he is the Pope, then a Protestant can't vote for him. Come to think of it, a Catholic couldn't vote for him either!

I truly question his cognitive health sometimes. That being said, he is no theologian. Maybe he should have paid better attention in Sunday school.

Some of those images are indeed bizarre and offensive. I don't understand why he does it, either.
