• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought I pay for newspaper subscription for The Times or Guardian. But on a Sunday I bought a newspaper and felt nearly suicidal after reading it.
With my not so stable emotional mind, it can be dangerous for me to read the news. And now if you go to Facebook or Instagram, it is full with Epstein stories. I was thinking, how can I get away from it?
Then on my day off, I read up from a book from Joyce Meyer, who had been through hard times in her youth and teaches us how to survive it all.
And she pointed to the Bible that God gives as grace and peace, despite our present evil times. That through Jesus Christ as well who gave himself up to rescue us from our sins. We can be living in difficult times and feel the peace anyway.

I was really off from that a few days ago. I always read the news and I was thinking why I do this? I read this in the buses to work and back and it is not healthy. Then I thought pay for subscription for the likes of The Times and in order to talk with other people about politics, but I got nearly suicidal.

I have to stay healthy as with my illness I do everything. I take my medication, go to work, pay bills and go to church and yet other people in the world smash everything up and we wonder how we can live with it.

I can not read newspapers, but I read Michael Obama's book, Becoming, which I found so soothing. Now I am on Barak Obamas book The Audacity of Hope and enjoy it. I have to actually translate it partly, so I can not simply read this fast. And I bought the book from Angela Merkel but made a mistake and have it now in English. 700 pages long.
Nigel Farage has said that he wants all foreigners living in council houses removed into private housing in a matter off three month. That was a shock for me to read and after a few days I got used to it. Hope he never becomes a MP.
So, I am reading up on politics, why it can go the wrong way which can endanger our lives. So, something on English politics will be the next book to buy.

I think of joining a political party but I think this is too early. I really know nothing about politics, so I better enjoy reading for a while. And figure out how the mechanism works.
