  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

'This has nothing to do with Christianity'

Conservative political commentator and author Ann Coulter recently dismissed the increasingly common assertion from some Christians that the Bible's commands regarding personal hospitality apply to U.S. immigration policy.

During a Feb. 8 interview with two college students at the Delaware-based Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Coulter also suggested that Christian leaders who promote such an idea are simply doing so because they crave the approval of the liberal cultural elite.

“I think they're total fake, phony frauds," she said of such people. "They want to be praised in The New York Times. This has nothing to do with Christianity."

Coulter, whose 2015 book about illegal immigration, Adios, America, was published the same month President Donald Trump first announced his candidacy, went on to warn that the U.S. is effectively the last Christian country, and that the rest of the world will suffer if it crumbles into a morass of unassimilated cultures and ethnic conflicts.

I don't put much on things that Coulter cries about. The Pope wasn't tried to cater to anyone other than God. Speaker Johnson didn't contradict what Pope Leo had said.

Somehow, I doubt we'll be called into account for how well we adhered to the doctrines of the Democrat party. Or the Republican, if we must mention them as well. Besides which, whether she is on the wide road of destruction depends on whether Jesus Christ is her Savior, not whether she's jumping through that particular hoop.

Immigrants are not the problem in the USA though some scapegoat them. Bloated Federal promises, huge deficits, social security deficits, cronyism, record high inequality, health care costs, inflation, hate of others and a lack of humility are the USA's problems. Coulter just making things worse as are many who focus on the wrong things.

Where is her fruit? She stirs up hate and is quite extremist to make money. She is the phony, a cloud without water.

I’ve had serious issues with her. She has said some really hateful and spiteful things in the past. Hopefully she learns to filter herself and be more Christ like.

So right, my sister in Christ! May the good Lord have mercy upon her and bring her to repentance!

What Ann Coulter is saying is simply untrue about anyone who seriously studies the Bible. While there may be legitimate reasons a nation may have immigration laws, the enforcement of immigration laws must always be consistent with human dignity and must be proportional and just in means.

Coulter is also a nominal Catholic and she's making a genuinely weak case here, when many of the Catholic hierarchy, including the Pope, have been critical of using undocumented immigrants as a political wedge issue or stigmatized scapegoats.
