  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

“So thank goodness for President Trump stepping up, because that’s what we need,” he said. “We don’t need a study. You know, past Republican leaders, they would wring their hands and call in the experts and study it for a while.”
He concluded by expressing confidence that the issue would be addressed.
“It’s going to be cleaned up, and President Trump’s going to do it,” Burchett said.

President Trump has done the right thing, moving quickly by ordering FEMA to get involved in the recovery operation. This is an ecological disaster, and I hope the people demand Democrats return to Washington and reverse their vote to defund FEMA.

I thought this was another thread on Donald Trump's social media posts.
Trump needed to take over rather than let the governor of Maryland handle the disaster. What with the Democrats defunding FEMA, and so many claiming to be pro-environment, is it not a surprise that the major media is paying little attention to this ecological disaster. FEMA personnel are working without pay.

Ah...

in defunding, I assume you mean through government shutdown. Note that Trump has the goal of getting rid of FEMA. Also note, as I've typed on CF until I'm blue in the fingers, that what FEMA does isn't what people think FEMA does. FEMA isn't like the old Civil Defense, and that's by design. What FEMA mostly does is come around with a checkbook after a major disaster and fund efforts already completed or underway before they get there. That's not an insult; that's what it does.

Remember under Biden they skipped houses if they had a Trump sign in the yard.

Trump's record on disasters hasn't been that great.

Texas floods
In the week after floods tore through Texas Hill Country, most survivors were unable to get through to a federal aid hotline because the Department of Homeland Security let funding lapse, according to publicly available contract records and internal FEMA call center logs obtained by NPR.

The call center staffing meltdown appears to have happened because of an administrative bottleneck created by the Trump administration. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem personally signs off on all funding requests for more than $100,000, according to House testimony by FEMA acting administrator David Richardson earlier this month. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is part of the Department of Homeland Security.

Sharpiegate:
The former top government scientist during President Trump's first term in office has a cautionary tale to tell about the politicization of science. It involves Neil Jacobs, Mr. Trump's nominee to lead the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Jacobs, who led the agency on an acting basis during Mr. Trump's first term, was reprimanded for ethics violations in what became known as "Sharpie-gate" — when the president held up a hurricane forecast map with black marker appearing to extend the storm's potential path into Alabama.

New probe confirms Trump officials blocked Puerto Rico from receiving hurricane aid

The Trump administration also obstructed an investigation looking into why it was depriving the U.S. territory of congressionally approved funds, the report found.

Apparently, Trump was not aware that Puerto Rico is part of the United States:

But President Donald Trump and Congress are sparring over aid. After Senate Democrats blocked a Republican disaster relief bill on Monday, saying Puerto Rico needed more funding, Trump complained the island had already received $91 billion, which is not true. He followed up with a series of tweets Tuesday morning suggesting Puerto Rico is not part of the United States.

Puerto Rico got 91 Billion Dollars for the hurricane, more money than has ever been gotten for a hurricane before, & all their local politicians do is complain & ask for more money. The pols are grossly incompetent, spend the money foolishly or corruptly, & only take from USA….” the president wrote.

It's becoming a truism. Every accusation is a confession.

Trump administration targets 14 blue states, DC with federal funding review

It’s the latest step in the administration’s long-standing effort to choke off funding for states that have opposed the president.
How to deal with sanctuary states is off topic. Start a thread with that article if you wish.

Probably a bad idea for you to bring up the issue of political retribution, then. Just pointing out what Americans have come to realize. From those guys, every accusation is a confession.

I'd be happy to discuss political retribution in another thread.

Remember I got to see Hurricane Helene up close and personal. I’ve commented on that before.
