  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Psssst. Relax. Donald Trump can be brought up as a sidenote.
not if it is off topic - and DJT is no where within the topic -
I have no interest in talking about him.
you sure deo talk a lot about him, for having no interest
But I should be able to mention Donald Trump without his supporters getting triggered that they MIGHT get talked about.
Who is triggered?

When one opens a thread about a specific Politician and a specific instance or what the politician says - and another poster bring up a totally unrelated politician and subject - that is called of topic - not triggered.

You gave the link. You wanted us to discuss it. It talks about Argentina's rampant inflation and compares it to the US. Are we not to discuss that? It tells us how Milei got it somewhat under control. Is that part of your link off topic? It mentions Trump twice and Biden (and throws in Eisenhour for good luck) as regards to their attempts to reduce inflation. Are we not to discuss that either?

Maybe you should cut and paste the whole text of the link and redact the parts which are not to be discussed. But then again you are required to give the link so that we have context. So that context can be discussed.

Yes but clearly this isn't an issue.

When did folks stop voting for stupid people?

You’re right. That’s why people will continue to vote for people like Alexandria “three chambers of government” Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine “just because someone has committed a crime, it doesn’t make them a criminal” Crockett.

I disagree with the “umpteen more”.
So it still applies equally to Trump. At least we have that. And yet you have a dozen or so embarrasing examples of his. And they're only concerned with geography. I could be here all night listing all the other faux pas.

LOL! Reminds me of a recent story!
I had a student in my Behaviours class stand up last week because he didn't know what "quotient" was. Instead of just admitting that he didn't know and get it wrong and learn what the word actually means, he just say "languages change".
he got a chuckle out of me.....but he also got it wrong and failed that test.

Do you agree that the meaning of the “phrase word” salad has changed?

Same could be said for AOC.
You go first and we'll compare. I'll jump in when you pass the number for Trump already listed. But you might ask the op if he wants his thread hijacked first.

What’s the number already listed?

You ask him. At least you admit you want to hijack this thread with more of your kvetching about Trump.

How can you say that AOC is the equal of Trump if you don't know? You read the post. Add them up...

I’m just trying to make sure you’re not trying to move the goal posts. I counted thirteen.

Here are fifteen from AOC.

She claimed that "every single" swing-seat Democrat who endorsed Medicare for All won re-election in 2020. Fact: Several candidates in competitive districts who supported the policy lost their seats.
PolitiFact

She claimed President Trump transferred "$0" to address the opioid national emergency while transferring billions for a border wall. Fact: Congress had already appropriated billions for the opioid crisis, making a manual transfer unnecessary.
Washington Post

She stated the military received a $700 billion budget increase they "didn't even ask for." Fact: The $700 billion was the total budget, not the increase, and the military had requested substantial funding.
PolitiFact

She claimed ICE is required to fill 34,000 beds with detainees "every single night." Fact:Federal law requires ICE to maintain the capacity of 34,000 beds, not necessarily to fill them all.
PolitiFact

She suggested that Congress changed the Constitution to prevent FDR from being re-elected. Fact: The 22nd Amendment (term limits) was proposed after FDR had already died in office.
FactCheck.org

She stated that the Trump tax cuts were the "largest contributor" to the deficit. Fact:While they contributed significantly, mandatory spending programs (Social Security/Medicare) are the primary drivers of the deficit.
PolitiFact

She claimed a Texas law allowed rapists to "sue their victims" for getting an abortion. Fact:The law prohibits the person who committed the sexual assault from filing such a lawsuit.
PolitiFact

She claimed to represent "as many or more" people than Senator Joe Manchin. Fact:As a Senator, Manchin represents the entire state of West Virginia (approx. 1.8 million), while a House district represents roughly 700,000.
PolitiFact

She claimed Bernie Sanders has "never taken corporate lobbyist money." Fact: While he avoids corporate PACs, he has received individual contributions from people registered as lobbyists.
PolitiFact

She stated there are "three vacant apartments" for every homeless person in NYC. Fact: This figure included apartments that were not actually available for rent (e.g., those under renovation or being sold).
PolitiFact

She stated the Jan. 6 attack resulted in "almost 10 dead." Fact: While the event was violent, the direct death toll on that day was four people; others (officers) died in the following days and months.
FactCheck.org

She stated that "unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs." Fact:Data shows that the number of multiple jobholders is small (around 5%) and does not significantly impact the overall unemployment rate.
PolitiFact

She claimed $21 trillion in Pentagon accounting errors could fund two-thirds of "Medicare for All." Fact: This figure refers to the total value of internal transfers over many years, not actual unspent cash available for new programs.
FactCheck.org

She claimed the "vast majority" of the country does not earn a living wage. Fact:While many earn low wages, fact-checkers noted that the term "vast majority" was a significant exaggeration of the actual data.
Washington Post

She stated that Amazon pays full-time employees so little they require government food assistance. Fact: While some part-time or former employees may, Amazon’s minimum wage of $15/hour is generally above the threshold for a single person's eligibility.
