  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

TPUSA to broadcast ‘All American’ alternative

One Million Moms has called on Christians to boycott this year’s Super Bowl halftime performance by rapper Bad Bunny, urging families to instead tune in to a parallel program by Turning Point USA.

The advocacy group objects to an overtly political and sexually charged show centered on “queer icons,” scheduled to air during Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8.

Turning Point USA confirmed it will stream the “All American Halftime Show” on its platforms and partner networks, including The Daily Wire, OAN and National News Desks, according to CBN News.

The conservative group described the show as a celebration of “faith, family and freedom,” though no performer list has been announced.

I've never heard of Bad Bunny until today.

I looked up the halftime show (I don't watch much football). I'm familiar with Hispanic culture, having lived in Orlando much of my life: the halftime performance looked quite well done, and not overly sexualized.

I live around alot of Puerto Rican people. Some are culturally conservative, but that doesn't necessarily play out into culture war politics, much less the kind of prudish sensibilities of Anglo culture. For many Latino people, family ties are more important than even religious ideology, people aren't going to severe relationships with family just because their children might be gay or lesbian, and their faith entails a simple, non-ideological response rooted in relational responsibility. When you come from countries or regions that are used to economic and institutional precarity, putting principles ahead of people is a good way to end up outside any kind of circle of care.

Interesting. I think in many Latino and Hispanic families who come from conservative or highly religious cultures would feel pain and embarrassment if their child came out as LGBT. Maybe the younger generation is changing? Who knows?

Honestly, I don't know what he even sounds like. ( Barbarian checks You Tube)
From 15 years back. Not as bad as I imagined. Not the best lyricist.

Yup, my fellow saints are making enemies with Hollywood again, so it seems. Anyhow, I know you guys are just doing what you think is right.

Is this righteousness?

This is the scary part of Christianity: going up against influences we think are evil. Not for the faint of heart.

I want to be left out of this. I have no interest in going up against Hollywood, against stars that church saints perceive as being bad influences or evil people. I just hate fighting is all. Maybe I'm a pacifist.

But I know better than to mess with an angry group of adults who are against a member of Hollywood because they perceive their influence is bad.

I know what you guys are going to tell me: You are going to tell me that as a fellow saint I have to find the backbone within me to stand up against bad influences in society. Or...what you guys perceive as being negative influences.

But I like peace and I hate fighting.

The only regret I have being a member of the church is that my fellow saints are notorious for butting heads with Hollywood. It grieves me. I don't see why we all can't just be friends? :sorry:

Hollywood is only friends with the far left. The amusing thing is that among the far left, friendship runs about as thin as friendship among the revolutionaries of the First French Republic, and they are not above cheering as their own take the ride in the tumbrel. That being the case, there is no point in seeking friendship with those who openly despise you and your beliefs and who seek your destruction. We are told to pray for our enemies, not to cozy up to them.

It's like the pedophile defenders who shout "what about Bill Clinton?" and are then shocked when leftists reply "if Bill Clinton did what Donald Trump did, then lock both of them up." The notion that principle is stronger than friendship or political affiliation, astonishes them.
