CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

While Hitler did briefly ally with Stalin's government in the early days of WWII, that was purely pragmatic/strategic; he was always planning to stab him in the back as soon as he stabilized the Western front.

Well that comparison also kinda falls short because the USSR existed for quite a while longer than Nazi Germany. If we look at the rate people were killed, Germany would have the USSR beat if they had existed as long. Dubious award, yes, but does point out a big hole in your arguement.

I sometimes have to tell people to concentrate on what I am posting. I don't often have to tell people to concentrate on what they are posting. Why not go back to that post and follow it through again? You'll be able to see where you abandoned that point as per above and swiveled to: Hey, but they killed more people!

Why is it that you never address what is posted? What has their craving for power to do with the fact that you have posted that Hitler was a big favourite of Stalin and then subsequently posted that they were enemies? Good grief, can you please pick a lane a stick to it?

Just clarifying. Hitler greatly admired Stalin, thus clarifying my meaning of "favorite." You can have a "favorite" henchman or hit man to hire, that doesn't mean you are buddies with that person. I was assuming people in the discussion had a basic knowledge of history.

We’re not in a disagreement with you about history, though.
Everyone agrees that Hitler & Stalin had a deal, and that deal “fell through”.
Hitler made the mistake of not totally conquering England before launching into Mother Russia.
Although I don’t know what Hitler’s attitudes toward other dictators has to do with what we had been on about.

Admiring how someone wields power does not mean that you have any love for the system of government that they do it under. You introduced the idea that "Stalin was one of Hitler's favorites" as a counter to the (well-documented) idea that Hitler was violently opposed to communism. The reality is that these are not mutually exclusive ideas. Stalin was a communist, and a dictator. Hitler was a fascist, and a dictator. The fact that Hitler liked how Stalin wielded his dictatorial power does not change the fact that Hitler also hated communists.

Why would you even want to make that argument? Do you believe the Nazis are you on your side and communists on ours that we each have to defend them? It is bizarre to try and rehabilitate the Nazis by claiming they’re not as bad as communists. You sound insane.
