  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"In the new survey, Trump was hit hard when compared to President Joe Biden. When asked who did a better job, 48% said Biden — and 40% chose Trump."

The Biden administration guided the US through an extremely difficult time. I don't know how much was Biden or his Cabinet, I don't know, but overall, they were very successful.

The Biden administration was the very worst and most terrible administration of the USA in my lifetime. I praise the Lord God that President Trump and his team is fixing all of the bad policies of the Biden administration.

They mentioned it being an online & phone survey, and they didn't also didn't mention which states it was conducted in....

I bring that up because in the New England states, the registered republicans are much more like to prefer democratic presidential candidates.

Hence the reason why Gov. Charlie Baker (R) and President Obama (D) both had commanding victories (with over 2/3 of the people voting in their favor) in the state of Massachusetts at the same time.

So I guess I'm just saying...don't let polls (especially ones involving comparing two people who are never going to run for president again) get your hopes up too much.

Both Obama and Biden dragged the US out the Republican recessions.

I can't remember a Republican president who didn't wreck the economy. Ike was before my time.
Ike was a very moderate Republican. He's responsible for our highway system.

Biden made mistakes, like all Presidents, but Trump is easily the worst president in US history.

It's Rasmussen. Their polls always favor the right as much as is possible while still being somewhat sensible.

I dunno, Warren G Harding was pretty bad, though he had the good grace to die in office, putting (Silent Cal) Coolidge into the Office. Coolidge was a thoroughly decent man.

President Trump and President Reagan are the very best US Presidents in the last 64 years.

Ike was a very moderate Republican. He's responsible for our highway system.

Economically, most Republicans and Democrats back then were on the same page: the postwar liberal consensus. Nothing else would sell politically to the Greatest or Silent generations who had no particular faith in bankers or financial instruments to ensure stability. However, behind the scenes, Ike had to placate the far right, that was always threatening to take away votes from the Republican Party (represented by groups such as the John Birch Society). It's just most people were smart enough back then to recognize the far right for what it was, grifters backed by millionaires.

Reagan was extremely likable while no one in government likes Trump.
And as bad as Reagan was, I would hazard a highly confident guess that he's not in the Epstein files.

I'm expecting that number to be 0 (I certainly won't be raising it above that).

To be fair to Biden, though, he would at least technically be *eligible* to run again.

....from Axios:
  • Trump's net approval on the economy (-18) is 26 points lower than it was at this point in his first term — and 53 points lower among independents, according to CNN polling analyst Harry Enten.
  • Young voters have cratered: The YouGov/Economist poll found Trump at -42 net approval among 18–29 year-olds — a 51-point swing from +9 at the start of his presidency.

‘The fiscal trajectory is not sustainable’: CBO warns about the highest debt in U.S. history as Trump adds $1.4 trillion to 10-year deficit

In its latest budget and economic outlook, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), a nonpartisan federal agency, revised its cumulative deficit projection for the 2026–2035 period upward by $1.4 trillion compared with its forecast from just a year ago.

“Our budget projections continue to indicate that the fiscal trajectory is not sustainable,” CBO Director Phillip Swagel said in a statement, noting the agency’s latest projections. Under laws passed in Trump’s first year back in office, the national debt in 2030 will surpass the historic high of 106% of GDP, which it reached in 1946. Meanwhile, the balance of Social Security’s Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund will be exhausted in 2032, one year earlier than the CBO projected last January.
