  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Research shows that just 6 minutes of reading can reduce cortisol levels by up to 68%, more effectively than listening to music or going for a walk. This happens because reading fiction engages your brain fully, slowing your heart rate and relaxing muscles as you get lost in the narrative. It’s like hitting a mental reset button—your focus shifts from real-world worries to the plot, characters, and settings, giving your stress response a much-needed break.

Despite how small a town Magnolia is, a lot of people have gathered here with me at Mule Kick to see Shaw Revolver perform tonight, even long before they are here. ^_^

But then, Miss Dresden and her brunette-headed sister do present a most formidable duo of lady singers. I highly doubt I will be the only one to fall under their charm this evening.

I happen to be at Mule Kick tonight while an entirely different musician is performing. He is doing a cover of Coldplay's "Yellow" right now, and it isn't bad at all. (Tagging @LadyOfMystery on this in hopes that she sees it for what i hope to be obvious reasons. ^-^ )

I like to read the Bible, history, art and novels.

The Bible plus old novels from my childhood like James Howe's Bunnicula books, as well as fantasy novels like the Dragonlance books over here, personally. :) Although I do also have a few literary classics like Little Women and Memoirs of a Geisha on my shelf as well. ^_^

You read Memoirs? No way! I'm surprised. :)

It was sometime in 2014, I think. I remember being disappointed by the ending where she was revealed to be a fictional account by the author, because it just seemed to really downplay the struggles that the rather sympathetic main character was going through, but overall i still thought it was a good book. :)

I guess just that the main character, Sayuri (if I remember her name correctly; for some reason it is suddenly foggy to me), is very sympathetic. I just found it a fascinating read. The world of being a geisha was revealed to be much darker than I would have imagined, since it seemed to involve merely being good and pleasant company men rather than outright sex work.

If memory serves I read the book it was based on and it's probable that was the only way to do it without problems. It's a secretive world and some things can't be shared with outsiders. And after Bruce Lee no one's rocking the boat. We've seen what happens.

It seems it is the worldly who get married. Sometimes I see it & I think 'is that really what you want'?

What's everyone up to?
I am trapped at work, yet again, trying to survive another six-day work-week. So ready to get home and have a day off.
You're better off working all those hours.

If I may ask for everyone's prayers, please pray for me to get better by Monday. I have become ill at work just this past night. I seem to suddenly have the circulation of someone 40 years older than I really am. :(

Thank you. Ibuprofen seems to be working well for at least a few hours as an anti-fever medication, reducing the strange chills that I have been experiencing since early in the shift last night. So for now, I can get plenty of rest. :)

I'm watching old Family Feud. The question was "Name something you order in a restaurant because you almost never eat it at home." Top six answers on the board. The number four answer was salad. This was back in 1990, and things have only gotten worse since then. :puff:

Salad bars are my favorite! The good ones have every kind of topping you can think of. Is that the word, topping. It's probably not so healthy but it sure is good

You like game shows, Game Show Network was my favorite. We didn't get it but my grandma did so we would watch it there.

It worries me a great deal when people aren't eating salad at home. It's not exactly a luxury item. I could understand if the question were "Name something that people order in a restaurant because it tastes better than preparing it at home." But that's not what's being asked.
