  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

PRAYING FOR KERRVILLE AND OTHER PARTS OF TEXAS! We went there in the 70s to meet and visit my great-uncle John. I'm schocked at the flash flooding disaster. I'm praying for those dear people.

Anyone find any good after Christmas sales?

I'm not much of a Christmas shopper and haven't really done any after Christmas sales since K-Mart's old blue light specials. Guess that ages me!

But my husband and I went to Walmart on Saturday just to look around. We ended up buying a Jenny-O turkey for 25 cents a pound, cost a whole $4.91. I've never had a Jenni-O . . . Also discovered boneless spiral hams for $1.00 a pound. Got 4 of them for around $4.00 each.

Their Christmas stuff was only 25% off though, and today only 50% off. There was a lot left and no one seemed interested in it. We accidentally showed up a few days after Christmas last year and everything was 90% off. Guess they're being stingier this year. ^_^

LOL ... I remember the blue light specials, too!
And how the shoppers all scurried towards the blue light, when the special was announced!

Fun ... funny times ...
I think we were more easily entertained, back then.

It feels strange not having SS or church today because of the ice and snow. It makes Sunday morning seem sort of lost. We're watching the local First Methodist re-broadcast of their Christmas Eve service.

I helped my husband check in on the phone for a doctor appointment scheduled for Wednesday. The link said it would take 5-10 minutes. It took us a half hour.

Hope everyone affected by the weather is doing okay. Our winter storm warning ended at 9:00 AM today, and right on cue the sun came out. It's a beautiful, bright but cold morning!

The church I've been attending also cancelled due to weather ...
but the pastor did a Facebook (greatly modified!) service from his home ...
and I really enjoyed it!

We got about 12 inches of snow here ... and will have frigid temps all week ... but we're prepared for snow up here and should be okay (as long as they can keep the electrical power on for us!).

What a blessing to wrap up your storm with some sunshine! From my years in Oklahoma, I very well know how challenging the weather can be in that part of the country ... but it was always so nice when the day ended with some sunshine, and most days in Oklahoma did! :blacksunrays:

That sounds interesting! I was surprised the Methodist church we watched didn't have a blog service -- the pastor there has s really good blog that's shown on Youtube.

We had maybe two inches of snow and a layer of sleet underneath. It might clear away by Thursday, the temps aren't in any hurry to warm up. Hopefully the roads will be mostly clear by Wednesday morning, we have a doctor appointment. We do have snow plows! ^_^

My husband grew up in southwestern NY state. We made one of our yearly visits, when his parents were still living, in December. After we landed and got on the
road we were basically in a blizzard. I think we were the last plane that landed -- a puddle jumper from Detroit to Erie. We got ourselves behind a semi and followed
it the entire distance we had to drive. Felt pretty safe!
