  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The evil is the media because it thrives on violence and sensationalised language, but also learning to deal with the stress is important. A simple action would be to disconnect and meditate. Spending time in nature is also good.

I haven't been watching the news lately. if someone accidentally presses the big red button, I might watch the news again.

I used to ride my bicycle up the mountains on weekends. I think nature trips are overrated. We keep looking for what is out there when it's already in us.

If the USA (going broke) is going to spend Billions in defense, shouldn't it be ok to use the resources to recoup some of that money?
The money that flows into the USA because of the internet giants all being US companies, is much more than that. How much more resources will you take from us?

In the cold war, Germany paid money for the US troops in our country. I'm not sure about the treaty between USA and Denmark, but if Trump wants moneys for the defense of Denmark, that can be negotiated. But not the transfer of land to the USA.

Maybe if Trump offers land in exchange to Greenland (say, New England), this would soften the EU position.
How many years have we been asking NATO to increase defense spending, and you forget that it also protects Europe?
We do increase or spending. In percentage of GDP, Germany now spends more than the US.
You definitely don't read the news. I've been hearing doom and gloom for twenty years, fearing people into doing something.
I read news. For almost 20 years, I hoped Europe would wake up and react to the Russian arms buildup.

If Trump wanted to defend the USA in Greenland, Denmark had no objection. But now things are more complicated. If you discover you can't trust your friend, you will certainly alter your behavior.

I seem to recall that quite recently one of our “allies” threatened to go after US citizens for making remarks it didn’t approve of while on US soil. Nice “respect” for sovereignty there.
Give some details. I want to know who did what - and if you depend on facts or propaganda.

The decision to have 50% of Germanys gas supplied by Russia was a major strategic failure by the governing elite and business community in Germany. But you cannot undo a mistake of that size over night. Dependence on Russia is now approaching zero.
There are only two EU countries left that get gas from Russia: Hungary and Slovakia. Germany made a 18ß0° turn and stopped buying Russian gas within one year.

BTW, there are parties in Germany that want to change that: peace with Russia, no support for Ukraine, buying gas from Russia again. The most important parts is the AfD, which JD Vance recommends us as a part of the next German government (it is one of the parties he labels »patriotic«).

As to the EU, dependence on Russia has not reached zero because Hungary (and now also Slovakia) have reservations, every new »sanctions packet« is a compromise …

August 2024. London Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, in a Sky News interview, We will throw the full force of the law at people. And whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online, we will come after you."

Its like saying: The hiouse next to m< garden is mine, and not to the person from another town who acquired it 120 years ago - I live much nearer!
Yes especially when it comes to stuff like 'Neighbourhood Watch". No sense some people in the next twon keeping an eye on the neighbours when you live next door. Must more trustworthy and safer option.
Its for the Greenlanders to decide the matter.
Yes, they are in the drivers seat. Though it seems a coalition is backing Denmark. France being quite vocal, Though Macron did offer a dinner to talk things over with Trump.

I am not sure I favor majority voting in the EU but maybe a 90% rule with a great power veto for trillion euro economies like Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Poland or alternatively net contributors over a certain amount. Hungary and Slovakia should not have the veto as they do with the current system, being small ungrateful net recipients. The EU is made weak and can be more easily be manipulated by Russia in the current system.

That said if a new system was implemented the EU elite might use it to promote morally dubious stuff like LGTBQ and abortion so maybe the EU is unreformable under the current ethos.

Sure took a long time to get yourself whened off Russian energy. West was funding both sides in the war with Ukraine, where the rationale for that?

I feel the UN is an old, outdated organization, and the reason for Trump's Board of Peace. I see hypocrisy in the UN, especially as it relates to Israel.

The USA feels the same about you all. What is wrong with a sovereign country protecting its own people's way of life? Have you seen what the Ukrainian war done to your country? Whether you like it or not, energy, not liberal ideology, makes the world go around. Without it, you are poor.
