  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ezell said he had spoken with the missionary following the service. He reported “the kids in the worship service were terrified.”
SBC Executive Committee President Jeff Iorg condemned the protest, calling it “absolutely wrong on every level.”

This is a federal crime. These entitled people think they are above the law. Time for Trump to move in the 11th Airborne.

So just to recap:-

ICE disrupting church services to arrest people - OK
ICE shooting a pastor in the face with a pepperball for standing still and protesting - OK
ICE shooting yet more pastors in the face with a pepperball for protesting - OK

People disrupting a church service to protest against a pastor who is OK with other church services being disrupted, but not his own - Not OK.

That story didn't make sense. It said the pastor was an ICE officer. Which is he, ICE or pastor? It also didn't explain why anti-ICE protestors would be there. Did they follow the ICE guy into the church?

No it isn't. It is trespass, which is a state/local crime.
Time for Trump to move in the 11th Airborne.
Not enough Minnesotans shot for your preference?

Before I read the article, will point out that being a pastor does not necessarily mean a person has no other means of employment. I once worked on a house site with a carpenter who was a Baptist minister and another who was a Methodist minister. I knew another Baptist minister who did some work as a farm laborer; another Baptist minister who has a store; and a Methodist minister who worked in a factory. Full-time ministers seem more common now, and when one man I knew who was studying to be ordained as a Church of God minister felt led to continue his secular job (like Paul working as a tent maker), he got some push-back.

All of which to say that it's possible for someone to work as a law enforcement officer and also be a minister.

You may want to ask Little Rock about opposition to Federal authority and how the 101st Airborne dropped by. Or you could ask the State of Georgia about the person in your avatar image.

Just to recap: pastors embedded in a croud of activists gets shot with a peoper ball while violating federal law. Okay. But pastors holding a peacefully worship service only to be bombarded by unhinged leftist lunatics. Not okay. I really do not see the issue other than your categorical fallacy.

Though I do not agree with protesting inside a church while being gathered, the hypocrisy of this lead pastor and his staff is stark and damaging.

It cannot be stressed that Pastor David Easterwood, acting director of the local ICE and responsible for conducting the division that oversees CRO, Enforcement and Removal Operations, is sending a chilling message throughout Christendom; the badge of the agency has the power to overshadow the cross of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. When a minister of the Gospel prioritizes the rigid, often punitive machinery of human legislation over the self-sacrificial mandates of the Kingdom of God, the prophetic voice of the church is effectively silenced. By choosing to enforce the law of man at the expense of the weightier matters of mercy and justice, such a dual role risks turning the "minister of God" into a mere instrument of earthly power, signaling a tragic departure from the Gospel.

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other" (Matthew 6:24).

Ultimately, this alignment serves as a stark reminder that when the laws of man demand the betrayal of the vulnerable, the believer’s true citizenship must be proven not by their compliance with a man made agency, but by their unwavering allegiance to the God who commands us to "do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly" (Micah 6:8).

David Easterman must make a choice, his job or his Lord.

Be blessed.

But many Christians here and elsewhere don't believe the way you believe. Who are the vulnerable illegal aliens? Illegal is all I need to see that it's wrong because of the law of the land, give to Caesar? Roman law required paying taxes.

It's a federal offense to interrupt a church service in a church. This sense of entitlement, that people can break laws because they "know" their political argument is right, needs to stop.

You are making my point. Thankfully, I would say that such posts like mine receive more positive reactions than the view you take. You ask who are these vulnerable individuals? Jesus Christ of Nazareth will tell you directly, its Him.

Matthew 25:35
“for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;”

I'm not sure why you're bashing me about Matthew, because I do help people in need, and those panhandlers who come to me. What does all this have to do with resisting law enforcement? What does the bible say about lawlessness?

And apparently Don Lemon was there....for some reason

Weird how a high profile former pundit would've been in just the right place at just the right time for an organic event that definitely wasn't pre-organized.

By choosing to enforce the law of man at the expense of the weightier matters of mercy and justice,
Justice IS the enforcement of law. What this means is rhat rhe law is enforced, justice is served in a merciful way.

There are times in this whole debate where I do not believe mercy is given. For example, if someone has been accepted as an asylum seeker and had not had their hearing yet then they should be granted the mercy of rhe hearing. Mercy and Justice are tied together. If you broke the law you should pay the penalty, but the penalty should be commensurate with circumstances. And we do have that in most of our laws. Judges have the ability to give out a range of punishments and its not a one size fits all for most things.

Easterman is following his portion of the Justice system. It is not his place either biblically or in the the Justice system to provide a merciful judgement upon the wrongdoer. In fact he is fulfilling his obligation assigned to the governement by God. Remember, Jesus never told the soldiers to quit. Soldiers who were the Justice arm of Rome.

This whole take of yours would mean Christians could not enter the field of law enforcement at all. And that's nonsense.

I pointed out that Jesus Christ of Nazareth specifically identifies as a stranger. No bashing here, just truth from our Lord.

Jesus assigned that to YOU. He did not assign that to the governement. He also did not tell you to let all the law breakers go free. Which is what you seem to be suggesting.

I see humanity as the harvest to whom the Gospel is meant for. His mandate to the believer is to spread his Good News.
The call to see a divine reflection in everyone extends to non-believers as well as believers. This is rooted in the fact that every human being is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
James 3:9 warns against cursing people "who have been made in the similitude of God," confirming that even those who do not know Him still bear His likeness.
Jesus further commanded us to "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you" (Matthew 5:44). He explained that God "makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust" (Matthew 5:45). By treating non-believers with the same Christ-like love you show to "brethren," you acknowledge their worth as God's creations, refect His grace to them and bring them into the Kingdom of God.
