  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Russia no doubt remembers what NATO did to Serbia. For obvious reasons, they can't just do the same thing to Russia, but it's not lost on the Russians what kind of organization they're dealing with.
How many times has Russia been invaded by NATO.

I’ll save you the time; none.

Stop Sloba doing war crimes? Why would that affect Russia unless it too wanted to do war crimes?
I think something unintended may have slipped through the cracks there...

You say that as if I did not watch the Soviet Union fall with my own eyes and didn't study it i the immediate aftermath. I do understand that "boomers" (whom you refer to in a subsequent post) had finished their education before the Soviets failed.
There were debates and questions back then about NATO expansion, which I thought was a bad idea in my 30s. You remember the one with Kissinger I posted on another thread, without watching that show alot of young people wouldn't know there was a debate about Nato expansion.
You talk about history? Review all the countries over the years that Russia has taken and held by force.
Before I become a hypocryte I have to see if my country has done the same, and unfortanely I can't complain. America has done things like a thief, except for the ME, which still plagues us to this day, for their hegemony and the arrogance to think we would be better off than the British Empire. America debt ridden fall is the same.
It did not start (against Ukraine) in 2014,
No, it did not. The fear of NATO expansion was before this.

OT, but if you think about it, China right now is similar to Russia when it comes to red lines. Everyone is aware of the current situation between China and Taiwan. Look at China on the map, they are surrounded by Western allies, and then the West had the gall to ask India into the country club. China sees this as aggression, and we'll be debating this topic when that war comes, all because we gave our chip manufacturing to cheaper labor.
China is waiting till they know they can take Taiwan, and the reason for their 6 to 1.8 military build up rate. The big question is, will it come to nukes if someone is getting spanked?

I prefer peace

Why fear other nations deciding to join NATO?

That's right: Russia can't invade a NATO country. It want's it's neighbours vulnerable for invasion and being a member of NATO stops that.

Larniavc said: You talk about history? Review all the countries over the years that Russia has taken and held by force.

Well? Your response would be?

I said I won't be a hypocrite because our countries have done the same, unless you think we are superior to everyone else.

As I've said, as soon as Joe said those words I immediately thought of Putin taking the chance to invade. There is no way he would have done it with Trump in office.
He's doing it now.
That's because Putin knew there would have been a different response.
Trump is encouraging him.

Another thing to look at is all the former countries that benefited under the beloved leadership of the Soviet Union. How many of the former Warsaw Pact are trying to get back to the happy old days of Soviet Dominance?

And letting Russia succeed in it's invasion will show China that it can be done. And you say you prefer peace?

Russia vs NATO: what is the ledger of invasions? How many times will you dodge this?

As long as the cheques from Putin keep clearing the bank manager?

The fact remains, the U.S. (and NATO) have never taken an inch of Russian soil. Does that make us superior? No. But we have kept the peace in Europe since the end of WW2. There is no doubt that without NATO, Putin would have re-taken Ukraine and the Balkins and possibly more. Putin has repeatedly stated that he wants to retore the "Russian Empire." I have no reason to do doubt him.

No one is letting Russia suceed they are succeeding on their own. Ukraine doesn't have the manpower to hold the front, and we knew this years ago if this became a war of attrition.

We wouldn't be talking about this war if we weren't so arrogant. I think Biden stepped into what G. Bush stepped into years ago, but not as badly. We misjudged Russian capabilities, and we thought we could win, no need for peace if you think you have a winning hand.

Edit: I forgot to add the document.

No. Both Putin and Biden misjudged the resolve of the Ukranian people to defend their homeland. Everyone assumed Ukraine would fall in a matter of weeks if Putin invaded.
