  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you're happy with how that comparison reflects on you as a nation then that's entirely your affair.
I like the idea of being a nation who respects other self-aware species, such as dogs, with whom we communicate and love.

I am both proud and ashamed that my dogs eat better than 99% of all human beings ever.

It's not an 'act' that your dogs get so excited to see you come home... they TRULY love you, you're their everything.

...knowing that, it would be a disgrace to deny that level of love it's due diligence. No matter "who".

The $1,776 for the military has a price tag of about $2.5 billion.
Well, the Congress had already appropriated that money for the military housing allowance. Trump just put his name on it.

It seems you want to avoid discussing the comparison. I think I would as well. And I'll bet that if you were asked what percentage of your GDP was spent on foreign aid you'd come up with a figure that was many, many times greater than the actual 0.2%.

That's chump change. If you were earning a hundred grand a year it's the equivalent of one cup of coffee a week from your local Starbucks. I wonder what Trump is going to do with the money he's saved. Maybe an Arc de Triomphe or another ballroom.

The statue of liberty is beginning to look like an ironic statement. They should bronze her face and paint a long red tie her.

Me, avoiding a discussion? No. But I do think it's pathetic, you driving a wedge between our beloved pets, and foreign poor, who we don't even know. Your post makes it look like you don't value the lives of other specie's - You might want to re-think that approach.

'When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.'

And his disciples said 'But we don't even know them...'

Who cares.
Who cares? Is that meant to be a serious question? Those that care are those that hate to see people dying because aid representing a small fraction of one percent of your nation's outgoing has been stopped.

I guess that those that don't care, and you seem to be including yourself in that group, must somehow deal with their conscience as they see fit.

I sleep very comfortably at night, trust me. In my own bed, in my own cozy bedroom, in my own country.

They matter just the same. Makes no difference a minute before being born or a minute after.

Is that meant to counteract the deaths of so many? Maybe ease a guilty conscience? If you think that aid is being given to non deserving causes then make an argument that that specific aid should be stopped.

If you found that an organisation used some of your charitable donation in helping a cause with which you disagreed, do you then stop giving to charity completely? What sense would there be in doing that?

And that's a hypothetical. No need to respond. We both know that the answer would be 'No, there'd be no sense in doing that. It would be idiotic'.

So why do you support aid given to young children being stopped?
