In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. It's in the same place that says Gentiles have to observe the Sabbath and be circumcised.
Isa 56 the Lord answers this regarding the Sabbath and Gentiles and Mat2:27

Isa 56:1 Thus says the Lord:

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,

And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,

And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

Doing justice and righteousness is the foundation of God's Throne. Psa89:14

This is a prophecy by God

Isa 56:6 “Also the sons of the foreigner (Gentiles)
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Jesus quotes from this very passage Mark 11:17 Mat 21:13

And all of God's predictions come true, why both Jew and Gentiles were keeping every Sabbath in God's house of prayer. Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 15:21 (part of the Jerusalem council for Gentiles) Acts18:4

Why the Sabbath continues in the New Heaven and New Earth, not any other day Isa66:22-23 for all flesh - God's saved Rev14:12

Gentiles do not need to be circumcised as the Scripture says, but all of God's people have to keep God's commandments (His version) Rev14:12- why Jesus said plainly "whoever" Mat5:19 Luke 6:46-48

The writings of Ellen White, a prophet of the Seventh Day Adventist church, teach that those who worship on Sunday will receive the mark of the beast and will reject the seal of God. In other words, the vast majority of Christians are doomed for worshipping our Lord on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Here are her writings:

Reception of Mark of the Beast Future—The change of the Sabbath is the sign or mark of the authority of the Romish church. Those who, understanding the claims of the fourth commandment, choose to observe the false sabbath in the place of the true, are thereby paying homage to that power by which alone it is commanded. The mark of the beast is the papal sabbath, which has been accepted by the world in the place of the day of God’s appointment. Ev 234.1
No one has yet received the mark of the beast. The testing time has not yet come. There are true Christians in every church, not excepting the Roman Catholic communion. None are condemned until they have had the light and have seen the obligation of the fourth commandment. But when the decree shall go forth enforcing the counterfeit sabbath, and the loud cry of the third angel shall warn men against the worship of the beast and his image, the line will be clearly drawn between the false and the true. Then those who still continue in transgression will receive the mark of the beast. Ev 234.2
With rapid steps we are approaching this period. When Protestant churches shall unite with the secular power to sustain a false religion, for opposing which their ancestors endured the fiercest persecution, then will the papal sabbath be enforced by the combined authority of church and state. There will be a national apostasy, which will end only in national ruin.—Manuscript 51, 1899. Ev 235.1
When Seal of God Is Refused—If the light of truth has been presented to you, revealing the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and showing that there is no foundation in the Word of God for Sunday observance, and yet you still cling to the false sabbath, refusing to keep holy the Sabbath which God calls “My holy day,” you receive the mark of the beast. When does this take place? When you obey the decree that commands you to cease from labor on Sunday and worship God, while you know that there is not a word in the Bible showing Sunday to be other than a common working day, you consent to receive the mark of the beast, and refuse the seal of God.—The Review and Herald, July 13, 1897. Ev 235.2
As a Result of Disregard of Light—God has given men the Sabbath as a sign between Him and them, as a test of their loyalty. Those who, after the light regarding God’s law comes to them, continue to disobey and exalt human laws above the law of God in the great crisis before us will receive the mark of the beast.—Letter 98, 1900. Ev 235.3
Caution in Presenting the Sunday Question—[We are] not to provoke those who have accepted this spurious sabbath, an institution of the Papacy in the place of God’s holy Sabbath. Their not having the Bible arguments in their favor makes them all the more angry and determined to supply the place of arguments that are wanting in the Word of God by the power of their might. The force of persecution follows the steps of the dragon. Therefore great care should be exercised to give no provocation.—Letter 55, 1886. Ev 235.4
Let the Truth Do the Cutting—Satan’s efforts against the advocates of the truth will wax more bitter and determined to the very close of time. As in Christ’s day the chief priests and rulers stirred up the people against Him, so today the religious leaders will excite bitterness and prejudice against the truth for this time. The people will be led to acts of violence and opposition which they would never have thought of had they not been imbued with the animosity of professed Christians against the truth. Ev 236.1
And what course shall the advocates of truth pursue? They have the unchangeable, eternal Word of God, and they should reveal the fact that they have the truth as it is in Jesus. Their words must not be rugged and sharp. In their presentation of truth they must manifest the love and meekness and gentleness of Christ. Let the truth do the cutting; the Word of God is as a sharp, two-edged sword, and will cut its way to the heart. Those who know that they have the truth should not, by the use of harsh and severe expressions, give Satan one chance to misinterpret their spirit.—The Review and Herald, October 14, 1902. Ev 236.2
A Call to Enlighten the Masses—I have been shown that Satan is stealing a march upon us. The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is to be made void. In our land of boasted freedom, religious liberty will come to an end. The contest will be decided over the Sabbath question, which will agitate the whole world. Ev 236.3
Our time for work is limited, and God calls us as ministers and people to be minutemen. Teachers as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves must come to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty. There are many who do not understand the prophecies relating to these days, and they must be enlightened.—Letter 1, 1875. Ev 237.1

No. And if she cared about truth enough to know history, she’d have known that the change to Sunday gathering and worship finds its roots at the beginnings of Christianity, followed by the churches in both the east and the “Romish” west.

Is Ellen White correct? Are those that worship our Lord on Sunday doomed to receive the mark of the beast?
As I read through this thread, I was struck by how much of the discussion centers on moralism—either as a means to salvation or as something that somehow affects salvation. One side argues that obedience to the Ten Commandments is not required for salvation; the other insists that it is. One side says the Sabbath is uniquely Jewish; the other says it was made for humanity and predates the Jews. Yet, in different ways, both sides seem focused on moral observance.

Before anyone takes offense, I want to acknowledge that many here clearly understand where salvation comes from and how it is received. My intent is not to dismiss sincere faith, but to gently question the framework through which we are approaching the issue.

Some time ago, I became curious about Ellen G. White after meeting an ardent Seventh-day Adventist gentleman who quoted her extensively. Wanting to understand her for myself, I read through much of her body of work—a series of volumes that begin with creation and extend to the second coming of Christ. Setting aside the question of her prophetic authority, it is clear that her understanding of salvation was not static. Over time, her emphasis shifted from a more New England–style moralism toward a clearer, grace-centered understanding of salvation.

Historically, the Seventh-day Adventist Church emerged from William Miller’s eschatology, rooted in a misreading of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation (cf. Matthew 24:36). Miller predicted Christ’s return in 1844, which sparked an urgent “get ready” movement. Understandably, this urgency led many to focus intensely on moral behavior. Yet such an approach placed an impossible burden on fallen humanity (Romans 3:10–12).

Around this time, Rachel Oakes Preston, a Seventh Day Baptist, introduced Sabbath observance to a group of Adventists who were already emphasizing the importance of the Ten Commandments. To their credit, and in pursuit of consistency, the congregation adopted Sabbath observance. This practice spread to other congregations, and in 1863 the Seventh-day Adventist Church was formally organized.

Given these origins, it is not difficult to see how a moralistic approach to salvation took root. Even after Christ did not return in 1844, the sense that His coming was imminent remained strong, continuing to foster moral urgency. In 1888, however, the message of righteousness by faith came with force, dividing the church theologically. By 1889, Ellen White’s emphasis had clearly shifted toward salvation by grace through faith, most notably expressed in Steps to Christ. The book was so strongly grace-centered that some even claimed it could not have been written by her.

All of this brings us to the question at hand. First, Scripture must be our final authority, interpreted through the illumination of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16–17; John 16:13). Second, moral behavior does not save anyone—whether that behavior consists of observing the Ten Commandments or simply striving to be a decent person. Even our best works, apart from Christ, amount to nothing of saving value (Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8–9). Self-defined law-keeping is vanity. Christ alone is righteous, and if we are to be righteous, it must be His righteousness given to us as a gift (2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:9).

And God does more than simply declare us righteous. He adopts us as His children and makes us co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:15–17). If this astonishing gift does not awaken in us a desire to be like Him, then we have not truly grasped what has been given. Any moral behavior that has real spiritual value flows from a heart cleansed by Christ (Ezekiel 36:26; Matthew 7:17). Obedience is the fruit of salvation, not the means to it (John 15:5; Galatians 2:16).

For this reason, it is sobering to remember that there will be many who confidently point to their religious observances—Sabbath-keeping included—and yet hear the words of Christ: “Depart from Me; I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23).

In the end, it is not merely what we do, but why we do it (1 Corinthians 10:31). None of us is qualified to take Christ’s place on the judgment seat (Romans 14:4, 10–12). Our proper posture is humility before Him. The Sabbath should not be the central issue; knowing Christ should be (John 17:3).

Yet we are told the test about knowing Him

The Test of Knowing Him

1 John2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

I think people are taking a lot of prerogatives that only belong to God to decided if we should keep or not keep His commandments or edit the Words that were written by God as if we know better than He. There is a reason God placed the 4th commandment in with the other 9 commandments as well as placing His seal in the 4th commandment Exo20:11 and maybe it doesn't make sense to the majority, but that doesn't change it is the Testimony of God Exo31:18 His written and spoken will. Adam and Even didn’t think it mattered to eat from one tree, it’s just a tree, but it got them kicked out of the garden. People take this same approach to the Holy day of the Lord Isa58::13 , it caused almost a whole nation not to enter their promise land Eze20:15-16 we are told not to follow in that same path of disobedience Heb4:11. God says He does not change and we have to get through this James2:11-12 Ecc12:13-14 2Cor5:10 before we can enter into our Promise Land Rev22:14

I think a lot of people take the approach what is the least I need to do to get into heaven, so I can live how I want and receive His blessings. God only blessed and sanctified one day Exo20:11 Gen2:3 and blesses and sanctifies us when we obey Him Isa56:2 Eze20:12, no Scripture say that the blessings that belong to the day God gave it to is transferred over to a day that we find more convenient for us because its what the majority are doing, no one was ever the majority who were following God in Scripture, it was always a remnant and still is Rev12:17KJV , He said it won’t be in the majority in last days either Mat7:13-14 , sadly one is missing the the bigger picture regarding this commandment, God just wants to spend time with us and what day better to do so that comes with His power of blessings and sanctification that only God can give Isa59:2 Eze20:12, and its more about the power behind who is asking to keep it and who is saying the opposite of God. God said Remember Exo20:8-11 another voice told us to forget. Which voice will we listen to. Whoever we obey is who we serve or worship Rom6:16 Mark-:3-14 Mark7:7-13

Regarding Ellen White and Steps to Christ she very much speaks about the Law, I had ChatGpt summarize it using only Steps to Christ

1. The Law Reveals Sin and Our Need of Christ

Chapter: “Repentance”

White explains that people do not truly see their sin until they understand God’s Law:

“It is the law of God that convicts the sinner. ‘I had not known sin, but by the law.’”
(Steps to Christ, ch. 3)
She echoes Romans 3:20; 7:7, showing that the Law functions as a mirror, not a savior.

2. The Law Is Perfect and Unchangeable

Chapter: “Faith and Acceptance”

White is explicit that faith in Christ does not cancel obedience:

“The law of God is the foundation of His government in heaven and on earth.”
She rejects the idea that grace abolishes the Law, aligning with Matthew 5:17 and Romans 3:31.

3. Obedience Is the Fruit of Salvation, Not the Cause

Chapter: “The Test of Discipleship”

This is one of the clearest discussions of God’s Law:

“If we abide in Christ, if the love of God dwells in us, our feelings, our thoughts, our actions, will be in harmony with the will of God as expressed in the precepts of His holy law.”
She directly connects love, faith, and obedience, reflecting John 14:15 and 1 John 2:3–4.

4. The Law Cannot Save—but It Still Binds

Chapter: “Growing Up Into Christ”

White explains sanctification in relation to the Law:

“The law reveals to man his sins, but it provides no remedy.”
Christ alone provides forgiveness and power to obey—consistent with Galatians 3:24.

5. Christ’s Life Is the Living Expression of the Law

Throughout the book, White presents Christ as the embodiment of the Law:

“The life of Christ was a life of obedience.”
This reflects Psalm 40:8 and Hebrews 10:7.

Summary (Very Important)

In Steps to Christ, Ellen G. White teaches that:

  • ✔ God’s Law is holy, just, and good
  • ✔ The Law reveals sin
  • ✔ The Law cannot save
  • ✔ Salvation is by grace through faith
  • ✔ Obedience is the evidence of genuine conversion
  • ✘ Grace does not abolish the Law

There is no rest in Christ when we disobey Him. Those who enter into Christ rest ALSO cease from their works as God did Heb4:10 on the seventh day Heb4:4 Exo20:11 because the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God Exo20:10 it is the holy day of the Lord, thus saith the Lord Isa58:13 and the Sabbath rest is according to the commandment Luke23:56

Rev 22: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Why if you read the next verse its the antidote to this situation. In contrast to God’s saints and what they do:

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Not the faith in Jesus but of Jesus which is how He lived and what He taught and they keep God’s commandments Exo20:6 Exo31:18- His version, not what man edited He told us not to.

Ecc 3:14 I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.

14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

Rev 14: 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” Quoting Exo20:11 where God placed His seal

Isa 48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then
your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Only one group of people enter into His Kingdom

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Once God blesses something man cannot take away Num23:20, because man is not God. They can disqualify themselves, but they cannot take away His blessings

Isa 56:2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

The Christian keeps Jesus two love commandments, not the commandments of the Mosaic law, and the Christian rest is in Christ not on a day. In addition keeping the commandments is a result of salvation not for salvation as your group preaches. Legalism is not scriptural.

Well, that day, is Today ^_^

16So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” 18For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

19Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

28“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. 30By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

She echoes Romans 3:20; 7:7, showing that the Law functions as a mirror, not a savior.

2. The Law Is Perfect and Unchangeable

Chapter: “Faith and Acceptance”

White is explicit that faith in Christ does not cancel obedience:

She rejects the idea that grace abolishes the Law, aligning with Matthew 5:17 and Romans 3:31.

3. Obedience Is the Fruit of Salvation, Not the Cause

Chapter: “The Test of Discipleship”

This is one of the clearest discussions of God’s Law:

She directly connects love, faith, and obedience, reflecting John 14:15 and 1 John 2:3–4.

4. The Law Cannot Save—but It Still Binds

Chapter: “Growing Up Into Christ”

White explains sanctification in relation to the Law:

Christ alone provides forgiveness and power to obey—consistent with Galatians 3:24.

5. Christ’s Life Is the Living Expression of the Law

Throughout the book, White presents Christ as the embodiment of the Law:

This reflects Psalm 40:8 and Hebrews 10:7.

Summary (Very Important)

In Steps to Christ, Ellen G. White teaches that:

  • ✔ God’s Law is holy, just, and good
  • ✔ The Law reveals sin
  • ✔ The Law cannot save
  • ✔ Salvation is by grace through faith
  • ✔ Obedience is the evidence of genuine conversion
  • ✘ Grace does not abolish the Law

Are you depending on your “obedience” to save you? If so, do believe you have obeyed enough to merit God’s salvation?

The AI summery of Steps To Christ is not a substitute for reading it. If you are not saved by your obedience to the law how can you be lost by your disobedience?

I think you under the misconception that righteousness by faith does away with the law. That is not the case. It establishes the law.

You will not find in any of my posts that I am depending on my obedience to save me. All the law does is reveal sin, shows us our true condition and so we don’t cover our sins where no one receives mercy Pro28:13 but seek Jesus and His help to overcome. No one can obey God without the help of the Holy Spirit John14:15-18 but we have to cooperate with Him and He will not force us to obey, it has to come from the heart. I am not sure why this is even a debate, if we all loved Him, we would be keeping His commandments and there would be no more sin, but sadly that is not the case.

That said, the opposite is true as well, that no one is saved in their sins Heb10:26–30 John3:19-21 1John2:4 Rev22:15. If we are still holding on to sin and hardening our heart to the call of the Holy Spirit trying to call us out of unbelief rebellion and sin Heb3:7-19 where we are not subject to the law of God - Rom8:7-8 its not a good position to be in once He returns. Mat7:23 Rev22:15 1John2:4

Of course, but I knew what you were saying was incorrect, so due to time, I had Chat summarize it.

Not anything said by me or even remotely insinuated, my posts speak of keeping God’s laws as a consequence of faith. Rev 14:12 Rom3:31

That is not the case. It establishes the law.
Of course, the notion we can disobey God and thats an example of faith is not found in our Bibles. So no one should be teaching we do not have to keep God’s commandments- and let Him be the one to sort out who is doing it for the right reason because He only taught if you love Me, keep My commandments, never once taught if you love Me, don’t obey Me.
