  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They are. The fact that you've been missexed is irrelevant. It was a mistake. Just like someone can think one is white when in fact you might be native American. You are what you were born as and pronouns are tied to sex. "He" is tied to the male sex. She is tied to the female sex.
So how do you determine sex before using anyone's pronouns? No, it is all convention.
If it wasn't then it wouldn't be such a big deal to those who want to be called the opposite sex pronouns.
It is not even important to all trans people.
If tgey were truly neutral you could call anyone whatever you wanted.
Why, many feel that they are important markers of gender. It is you who claim that they are linked to sex, but no one of you have mentioned your preferred way of ascertaining sex.

Do you really believe that your emotional reactions, your ways of thinking about things that happen to you are identical to a man's? Do you really believe that your emotional reactions, your way of thinking about things that happen to you are not subject to gendered categorization by society?
Emotional reactions don’t define gender. Genetics do.

A man who “self-identifies” as a woman is STILL a man, regardless of his “gender identity.”

It’s science.

Reality.

The truth hurts
Especially those who refuse to bow down to the trans agenda. It’s not about being rude, it’s about integrity.

Sex is often determined by sex chromosomes (in mammals) or gametes size and motility (more widely).

But why should I disregard what seems to be obvious social factors in determining gender? As I said (almost?) no one is using sex to determine pronouns, saying sex determines pronouns is a red herring. I've yet to meet, anyone that does it regularly and who can describe how they do it.

There are no social factors. Men who prefer feminine roles are still men, women who prefer masculine roles are still women.

Never heard of tomboys or metrosexual?

We aee talking about trans kids. Being trans is a serious mental illness. Kissing a same sex kid is not.
Just so we are clear you don't find same-sex kissing more problematic than cross-sex kissing in a school setting?
Because thats what they are. If you want to use rheir preferred pronouns then do that.
I will, and so will the schools as well I hope.

Don't be irritated if people keep reminding you about pronoun use of you keep using the wrong ones.
I've never needed to. I haven't been wrong yet and been doing it for a really long time.
How did you check?

So how do you determine sex before deciding what pronouns to use? You don't look at hairstyle, fashion, mannerisms, listen to speech patterns? Check the characteristics of their friend group? Talk to them and ask? You go up to them checking for external genitalia, get a blood sample or what?

Identity seems to be more or less an internal process, but people can feel different affinities for how it is manifested in our social and cultural norms. That is why the gold standard of determining gender identity is to simply ask, if you want to be sure.

It’s not about being rude, it’s about integrity.
It IS about being rude. If one insisted that a Christian was by definition in a cult that would be rude and even though one might be accurate it would be beyond rude to state it.
