  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In a sign that things are definitely going well for his second term, Donald Trump is promising to send cash to every American. Tucked away in a series of posts on Truth Social that railed against recent setbacks for his tariff scheme, Trump promised a tariff dividend for every American worth several thousand dollars.

“People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k’s are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars

I don't think I should go out and spend it just yet.

ROFL!!!!

No way.
You believe that hey?

What happenned to paying down the debt? That has already increased faster than ever before (not counting COVID).
This will also be done with the tariffs. Eventually. It has to get worse before it gets better.

Lol. It's SOOOOOO hard to take conservatives seriously about fiscal responsibility when I read news articles and threads like this.
I always said I was in favor of fiscal irresponsibility. Spend, baby spend..!

...But on America only. And to be even more precise, the American middle-class. Not the poor.

I also need a new high speed train line from Redlands to Vegas. Just 20 billion more dollars and I can go build it for us. Just spend it.
What are Redlands?

For a high speed train in CA, $20B sounds like a bargain.

Liberals want universal basic income, but can't stand the idea of Trump giving citizens some money.

I remember the 2020/21 EIP stimulus cards totaling about $1800 iirc. I suppose liberals complained about that too.

I can't speak for "liberals" on univseral basic income.
I'm still trying to figure out how a party that allegedly represents conservatives is supporting a tax on imported goods. Free enterprise. Small government. Taxation without representation. As I came of political age under Ronald Reagan, I understood those to be core conservative values.

Ronald Reagan was a good person. But let's not forget he was an actor long before getting involved in politics.

...Reagan does not represent the foundational core of the Republican party. He added something to it, but he did not represent it.

A one time $2000 payment is not a universal basic income. If this will be a monthly payment then count me in, I’m onboard, thank you Mr President.

Somehow I doubt that’s what this is or that it’d have your support if it were permanent.

I'm referring to the dirt poor. The middle class hasn't had representation in decades. Only the super-rich, and the dirt poor have with our two parties.

...Trump is the closest we've had to someone for the middle class in my lifetime.
