CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have yet to receive a clear and candid response from individuals advocating for the deportation of all 15 million undocumented immigrants. They usually hide behind term like “terrorist” , “harden criminal;” , “gang banger”, human trafficker” and now a new one “ we got rid of slave labor”.
They rarely honest enough to admit "We want all 15 million undocumented people removed from the country, regardless of who they are." They just dance around word salad.

It is not simply a possibility, but rather a likely outcome that many South American immigrants would support conservative policies. Research suggests that if the Republican Party shifted its immigration stance to align with those of George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan, approximately 70 percent of Hispanic voters could favor Republican candidates. Interestingly, the immigrants most sought after by Republicans—primarily those from Europe—tend to hold liberal views and are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates.Sure it is.But if so, you ought to be pleased with it. Most of these immigrants are social conservatives and might well vote Republican if you treated them decently.

Abused by ICE? Such cases are extremely rare, ICE is trying to catch as many violent criminals and terrorists as they can in order to save as many victims as possible. The missing women and children are difficult to find, the Biden administration did not keep track of hundreds of thousands and while for many it the abuse of human slavery some already are undoubtedly dead. For most there is no place to start the investigation. Meanwhile the attacks on ICE personnel and their families are up over 1000 percent and many leaders refuse to stop their violent rhetoric.

If you genuinely have benevolent concerns for undocumented immigrants who are often exploited by cartels, a straightforward and effective solution is to provide them with a path to citizenship. This approach benefits everyone except those taking advantage of vulnerable individuals: Americans gain hardworking labor, and these individuals have the opportunity for a better life.

I see the suppression of truth in media is persuading at least a few individuals.
The evil concealed by our government dwarfs the small number of criminal immigrants being cast as stereotypes.

The name calling and demonizing of others needs to stop. ICE officers are Americans, friends and relatives and neighbors, Democrats and Republicans. ICE is currently focusing on violent criminals in order to save as many victims as possible. The more that people interfere with ICE the more rapes and murders and human trafficking there will be. Everyone should put the welfare of these victims ahead of their politics. As to using Jesus in the Holy Eucharist for political purposes, their actions were disturbing. Pious priests do bring the Holy Eucharist to hospital patients and also to immigrant detainees. They make appointments and one priest or authorized person is all it takes for a visit for incarcerated immigrants. Showing up with a thousand people at a secure facility (I understand fifteen were arrested) and demanding entry could be considered a stunt and borders on irreverence.The masked marauders of ICE who "disappear'" immigrants can in no way be considered to be "enforcing government laws." Our government and our constitution guarantee due process. They do not authorize torture.
In just one well-publicized instance of ICE's inhumanity to man, a Catholic group sought to bring the Eucharist to the immig.ants at the Broadview ICE facility. ICE denied entrance to those wanting to give the immigrants, many of whom are Catholic, the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Jesus, their brother, who was unjustly arrested, imprisoned, tortured, crucified and died, followed by so many heroic martyrs persecuted in Acts of the Apostles--St. Stephen, St. Paul, St. Peter.

And, BTW, there are "unjust" laws. God does not command us to follow unjust laws---which comprise I would estimate most of the unconstitutional overreach laws Trump has signed by edict.

So that's how Fox is spinning it? Priests could make appointments or at a time for hundreds? I doubt it.
I trust the testimony of the Jesuits over spin doctors.
Jesus should be welcome everywhere. I am sure there are ICE agents who could use pastoral counseling. So many conservatives tell us to admonish the sinner (perhaps a gay couple just wanting to lead their lives without harassment.
How can we deny spiritual aid to many agents who have shown themselves--in the media and in first person testimonies of immigrants i know--to be horribly sadistic and violent?

Testimony of criminals is not always reliable. Most of the nation rejected the defund the police movement and the demonization of law enforcement officers.

Are you calling the Jesuits criminals?
Defunding the police was another bald faced lie. Comprehensive criminal reform is well-thought out and successful.
ICE is providing ample evidence of sadism and cruelty. The public sees them objectively.
