  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does that have to do with Jesus coming to earth? I thought you were questioning whether Jesus even returns to earth? Clearly, you're not admitting that he comes to the Mt. of Olives!

So now, your point seems to be that Jesus comes to the earth for Israel but takes the Body of Christ to heaven to be there? Please explain for me what you're trying to say in this regard?
I said quote : - Jesus will come to the Mount of Olives just as God`s word said - (Acts 1: 11 & Zech. 14: 4) And that is to deliver Israel and bring vengeance upon the rebellious. So please read more carefully.

Jesus comes for His Body prior to the trib, and after the trib, He will come (with His angelic army) to earth for a time to deliver Israel, judge the rebellious and then set up His kingdom rule through Israel, (as promised).

Then the Lord returns to His own seat of power and authority in the third heaven, given by the Father. (Ps. 2: 6 Eph. 1: 20- 22) It is from there he will rule over all God`s great kingdom.

Hi Marilyn,

When Jesus returns to earth to stand on the Mt. of Olives, He will sit on King David's throne in Jerusalem for next thousand years.

Of course, that does not restrict Jesus to earth during that time. So, imo, Jesus will be going back and forth between Jerusalem here on earth and His Throne in the third heaven.

At the end of the thousand years, when Satan is loosed to deceive the nations again, it likely that Jesus will be in the third heaven at that time. Since while on earth, Jesus will rule the nations with a rod of iron to prevent any such rebellion.

Sorry, Marilyn, I made a typo. I meant to say, "Clearly you're NOW admitting that he comes to the Mt. of Olives!

Thanks for the explanation that you are describing your belief in a dual stage Coming of Christ, once for the Church to heaven and again to come to earth at the Mt. of Olives.

Hi Douggg,

Well we nearly agree. Now had you remembered that Jesus will make a man called David as king over Israel in the millennium. (Ez. 37: 24 Jer. 30: 9)

In Luke 1:31-33, an angel appeared to Mary and told her...

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

I agree. Some Christians have gotten confused over use of the name "David." It was common, historically, for some royal lineages to use the same name for each king in succession related to the original. I suppose you could call, on some occasions, Hezekiah or Josiah "David." In reality, it just meant that they were kings in the line of David who reigned like David.

It might be similar to how prophecy applied the title "Elijah" to John the Baptist. He came in the ministerial, prophetic line of Elijah in terms of his greatness. But he was not a reincarnation of Elijah--just someone modeled after Elijah.

A king's use of a previous king's name may be the option of the king himself. He may want it to be known that he is carrying out the tradition of a previous king. In the case of "David," God wants it known that Messiah would be similar to David, in terms of fidelity to the truth and deference to God in all things. God wanted it also to be known that Messiah would be both a descendant of David and a king after his line of succession.

Hi Douggg,

Good scripture there. And we see that it refers to Jesus as a man. However, we know that Jesus is also the Son of God. So, what does scripture say about that?

`I Jesus (in heaven) ....I am the ROOT and the OFFSPRING of David...` (Rev. 22: 16)

It was Jesus in the Godhead that made the very throne of David (as well as the 12 tribes etc). He is the ROOT, from where David`s throne came from. And then also we know that because Jesus was manifest as a man of the house of David of the Kingly line that He is King of the Jews.

So, in the millennium (as well as now) the Lord Jesus has the authority over the throne of David. Thus, because He rules from His seat of power and authority in the third heaven, He will appoint a regent king, named David to rule over Israel in the millennium.

I don't believe Jesus drank wine on the cross. I believe Jesus was speaking, in Mark 14.25, of the Millennial Kingdom when he will come back to earth.
I think Jesus will come back to earth bodily just once more. He will come back to judge the living and the dead, meaning all the people who have ever lived. The judgment will be in the Kidron Valley (Valley of Jehoshaphat).

2 Timothy 4:1
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

1 Peter 4:5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Hebrews 9:28
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
The passage in Luke 17 is speaking of the relationship of God's Kingdom to Israel in Jesus' time, and of how it is "coming." Clearly, from Jesus' perspective, the Kingdom remained in heaven and had not yet come. That's why he taught his disciples to pray, "Thy Kingdom come." It was not yet here.
I have changed my mind and agree with you on this point. Thank you for sharing your perspective. :)

So he was informing his disciples that the Kingdom was coming in an unusual way, being recognized in preliminary form by people with "eyes to see." They could see in Jesus the Messiah of that future Kingdom. They could recognize the righteousness of that future Kingdom. But the Kingdom, though coming in an obscure way, had not yet come!
I think this future kingdom with Jesus will actually be in heaven where Jesus has already prepared places for his true followers in his Father's house.

My own belief, though highly speculative, is that when Jesus comes again to earth, he will bring his glorified Church with him. However, being that we will have become immortals we may go back and forth dimensionally from the earthly plane to the heavenly plane, just like the angels.

But for a thousand years there will still be mortals on earth, and nations, who will fulfill the climax of world history. There will be Christian nations, Israel included, as well as nations not so disposed to Christianity and yet submissive to it. The Devil will be bound at this time. It will be a time of fulfilling the promises God made to Abraham, to have Israel in Abraham's faith and to have many nations sharing in Abraham's faith--all these Christian nations.

As for those of us who are transformed into immortals we may be in heaven for this thousand years, doing what the angels are doing now, monitoring, managing, and judging. Again, this is purely my speculation. If you have any ideas, I've love to hear them?
