  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's just not going to happen. As to the sentencing for trying to kill a Supreme Court justice, I do agree. The number one goal in sentencing should be to protect society.
OTOH perhaps peak T is passing and in a few years he can get the rehabilitation he needs within the prison system. Well, maybe. I would have gone for a longer sentence with a limited possibility of parole.

If the revolutionary Democrats win in three years he might possibly be released as a political prisoner anyhow. Our electorate is so fickle.

Considering that none of the crimes mentioned are even close to what happened during the January 6 riot, I don't see the connection.

If you pick enough people that have a penchant for, let's say antisocial behaviour, a certain number of them will offend in the following time.

I don't see why some people were released while there were still outstanding warrants, though.

Shouldn't that result in everyone getting locked up for life without parole?
