  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Senate passes resolution for 'National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk' for Oct. 14th (Kirk's birthday)

It's well-meaning, but ultimately of no force or effect. It's a feel-good gesture designed to bring comfort to his loved ones and those who supported him and his ideas.

I know of a few with streaming shows. Call them up if you want a debate on religion/god. I don't. Kirk and TP USA put of a website to harass intellectuals.
Then you have to say The Amazing Randi did the same thing. Nor was he the only atheist to do so.

No I don't, because it wasn't. Randi had a challenge prize for the demonstration of supernatural claims. Applicants were required to work with Randi's staff to develop a test for a public challenge.

I already mentioned their call-in shows and streams, but this isn't about theological debates. This was about professors on the watch list and the claim that Kirk debated them.

Kirk went on campuses and did the line up and "debate me, bro". I've seen no evidence that Kirk ever had a debate with any of the professors on his 'watchlist', nor should he have.

Randi had more than that on his web site. I know because I saw it. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander: If the memory of Kirk is besmirched because he had a web site promoting his views, then we must also besmirched Randi's for doing the same. And IIRC, Randi once made a post where he insinuated a couple had possibly killed their disabled child.

If the memory of Kirk is besmirched because he had a web site promoting his views,
That is obviously not the claim being made. Charlie Kirk put a list of people's names and affiliations on a Watchlist.

Randi discussed high profile people making outlandish claims in the media (and examined those claims) or examined people who came to him for testing. He did not make a list of carnie fortune tellers and Venice Beach palm readers to harass.

And IIRC, Randi once made a post where he insinuated a couple had possibly killed their disabled child.
Was it defamatory? If so they could have sued. But I don't see the relevance to Charlie Kirk's list of 'politically incorrect' professors.

I never mentioned Randi's web site, only his supernatural challenge.

This thread is about Kirk. I mentioned his professor harassment site. It is one of many marks against Kirk.

If you want to harangue James Randi, make a thread about it.
