  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The part I find absurd is the equating of understanding one's feelings with femininity. It's not that I'm unfamiliar with that correlation, but rather that it seems obvious to me that it's not a biological one; it's a cultural one. Not only is it cultural, it's fairly new (i.e. within the last century or two) and mostly western.

Creating a great piece of art, literature, music, or film requires a fair amount of emotiveness and emotional awareness. Of the works that are considered the greatest in history, the vast, vast majority were created by men. Every time you walk into a museum, you're surrounded by the handiwork of.... sissyboys?

Congratulations, you're in touch with your feelings. Or at least you're on your way towards being so. You're ready to start learning about the next step: tucking.
Tucking? Do tell…

I tend to think the same thing, when our African American payroll guy messes our checks up 3 out of 4 times per month. Is he really qualified? Or did his skin color get him the job.

...Haha, then he gets all defensive when we complain about being shorted. What a piece of work.
What is so sad here it that you even think that his skin colour is in anyway a part of the issue at all.

Some people are just incompetent jerks. I dunno why anyone would even think of skin colour about that.

What are feelings, other than thoughts coupled with emotion?
Thoughts are the ideas, beliefs, and judgments we have, while feelings are the specific emotional sensations we experience.
Thoughts may lead to feelings but they are not the same thing

Well Bella you’re entitled to your opinion . Many may agree with you and many may not. You say Like seriously? But Common sense says the opposite. And where most common sense people don’t mock and heckle at the mourning of someone’s passing be it America or anywhere. And for good reason You have a saying in your America . F around and find out. And thank God that the guy got off rather lightly.

This is where moral compass comes into play. My response isn’t a reflection of my religious beliefs nor the sentiments of our nation good or bad. That’s my constitution in action. I don’t need the Lord to tell me it’s wrong or the threat of harm to restrain me. I instinctively know it’s incorrect. And that’s the you who shows up when emotions rage and your back’s against the wall or no one’s looking.

In this instance we’ve witnessed the same. He wanted to stir the pot and the others wanted to respond. Everyone had a choice and they behaved according to their nature. So when I say seriously I meant it. He didn’t know if they were armed or not and took a risk. And that’s the sort of thing you don’t do when you moral compass is solid. You don’t put yourself in harm’s way unnecessarily.

Oh, see you misunderstand, just like everyone misunderstood what Charlie Kirk said... The point being addressed is DEI hiring practices.

...If someone *chooses* to take offense, then that is a choice they make.

The implication is that standards must be lowered in order to hire minorities In industries they are underrepresented. Also that the default qualified person is a white man.

No the point is people instinctively believing that any deficit in ability is due to skin colour and not individual differences.

What you are doing is an example of the fundamental attribution error being applied to skin colour instead of personality.

Don’t do it.

I don't see how. I made the statement that my payroll person makes mistakes on our checks 75% of the time, deemingly him as either unqualified or incompetent, regardless of his skin color.

It wasn't until after I learned he was black, that I wondered if he was hired because of DEI hiring practices.

Payroll, under this goofball, has only fixed a fraction of the mistakes, and we ended up just giving up on the rest of the money we're owed out of pure exhaustion and frustration.

It seems you haven't explored this to the degree I have. It's like when I comment on LGBT ideology, and people think I'm joking or making stuff up, when in fact I got my information from LGBT sources. They don't fully understand what they're arguing

well feel free to link to these sources when those convconversations happen.

I went to The Louve and what I saw there with a great deal of the sculptures and paintings did not leave me with the impression that these great artists created these masterpieces based upon a fair amount of emotional awareness.
Then unfortunately, you missed out on a lot as emotional expression. Perhaps you only viewed thr preRennaissance galleries?

No, men have always had feelings. The difference is the dwelling on emotional feelings, overthinking them, and relying on them too much in decision-making. For example, whether you believe in evolution or special creation, men have tear ducts, so we have to assume it's okay for men to cry. But with men crying should only be reserved for the most serious of occasions, such as when your mother dies, or when your country is conquered in war, or when the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs again.
