You almost have to wonder if the Democratic Party is secretly trying to lose.

You almost have to wonder if the Democratic Party is secretly trying to lose.

Because if they aren’t, then boy, they sure are doing a convincing impression of a political death spiral.

Let’s start with the numbers. In just four years, Democrats have bled more than two million registered voters across the 30 states that actually track registration. Republicans? We’ve gained 2.4 million. That’s not a rounding error — that’s a seismic shift. Combine that with their approval rating scraping the bottom of the barrel — 35-year lows according to the Wall Street Journal, and one poll dropping them to a jaw-dropping 19 percent — and you’ve got a party that should be in full-on panic mode.

But instead of course-correcting, they’re doubling down on everything that got them here.

Case in point: their big summer strategy meeting. You’d think, given the polling, given the hemorrhaging of voters, they’d open with a laser-focused plan to fix the economy, tackle crime, or maybe — just maybe — talk about the border crisis Americans keep screaming about. But nope. They kicked things off with a “land acknowledgment.” Because nothing says “we hear you” to struggling families like a symbolic lecture about indigenous territory before diving into more Trump-bashing.

But here’s the kicker: they still don’t get why voters are leaving. They think their problem is messaging, when the real problem is their policies. They obsess over Trump, scream about fascism, and cry about “democracy in danger,” but when Americans look at their communities, what they actually see is skyrocketing crime, collapsing schools, and grocery bills that look like mortgage payments.

It seems to appear that way. Their ship is sinking and they are too committed to their ideology and their hatred for Trump that they rather see their party and their country burn before changing course. They are unwilling to make the necessary changes, and they refuse to go down quietly. So their only option is to go out in a blaze of glory. Note, I am obviously speaking about the Democratic Party. Not individual democrats, many of whom have already abandoned ship.

There has been considerable discussion regarding the challenges faced by the Democratic Party. However, I would like to present the official election results from last night in Iowa, a state traditionally recognized for its strong Republican support. These are factual results, not merely polls or opinions.

Iowa Senate District 1 Special Election results

A district won by the GOP with a 55% margin in 2022 switched to the Democrats in 2025, who secured victory with 54%.

This is the 2nd state senate seat DNC flipped in IA in 2025.

But thanks for all your opinion poll and article!

It's great to rag on democrats right now....with all the power they have.

How popular is Trump doing now, by rhe way? Are his policies being people into the republican fold?

You assume it was the Democrats EARNING that win as opposed to Republican policies being really unpopular with independents.

Was there a national-level election in 2025? If no national election takes place in 2025, there will be no basis for comparison.

Am I wrong in congratulating them? Are you insinuating they didn't earn their election results - they were just not as bad as the other side? That would be a sad statement in itself.

The party is sinking - they are loosing voters from virtually every demographic, they are at a historic low for approval rating.

You bring up a win for them (congrats), and the logical question, did they do something different and could it help them nationally.

I'm not looking for a fight - just wondering if perhaps they found something that helps -

Democrats break GOP’s supermajority in Iowa after flipping state Senate seat

Interesting - did we leave out that the Democrats did not win majority - only end a super majority?

What is your source for claiming the DNC is losing every demographic? Here are the facts.

  • In seven of the last nine presidential elections, the Democratic candidate received the most votes in the popular vote.
  • Over the past 50 years, less than 20% of African American voters have supported Republican candidates in each election.
  • Past 50 years, most Hispanic voters have voted for Democratic candidates.
  • Past 50 years, majority women have also tended to support Democratic candidates.
  • Past 50 years, majority Americans under age 35 have generally favored Democratic candidates.
  • Past 50 years majority of voters with a college degree have chosen Democratic candidates.
  • In addition, about 80% of non-Hispanic immigrants have supported Democratic candidates during the last five decades.

Do you really think this would be the first time it happenned.
You probably think Trump got voted FOR because everyone loved his policies.

Like I said. I’m not looking for a fight

If you do not want to answer the question, just say so.

Yeesh, I was actually congratulating them and asking if it would help the party

Take a deep breathe. I was on your side wondering if you knew something I didn’t. Sheesh!
