With the immigrant population decreasing (their numbers are included in the census, even if not documented)
The numbers of documented, i.e., legal, imigrant is certainly included in the census. Having a goodly number of legal immigrants amongst my family and friends, I know something on the subject, TYhe "undocumented", i.e., illegal aliens (not all are, strictly speaking, "immigrants", a good mahy have no intention of staying here. are, of course ,as they don't typically welcome census takers.
and movers not wanting to live in an area rife with discrimination and repression
I,E, Red States, I presume. Funny, other than the obligatory "ching chonging" that as a child I endured pretty much everywhere, I never faced much discrimination in the South. Maybe we were "white enough" back then. "'The few Latinos I knew then didn't seem to get all that much grief here (Tennessee) either, although I might not been paying that much attention. But "them rednecks.." are always a handy scapegoat. Gotta have a bad guy, after all.
--not to mention that they will have a lot of natural disaster exposure due to Gulf of Mexico hurricanes
"Women and minorities hardest hit..."
(yes, I believe in geography and cartography as well as science!) and will have to deal with it without FEMA
No FEMA? Kinda like those rednecks in East Tennessee whose homes were ignored if they had a truck with a Trump sticker on it? Oh yeah, I forgot "Trump supporters might have shot at them" because
We Know How Those People Are", don't we?
--I wouldn't be surprised if Texas lost House seats in the future.
Then what's your, and Newsom's, complaint?
Americans want to live in the land of the free--not a country where ICE agents grab people on the streets.
Funny, before my daughter became a citizen of the KIngdom of Denmark, that bastion of Elightened Thinking and Liberality, the local politi would call at her house, always in pairs, at least once a year, to check up on her. Nemmind that she worked for the Dansk government, was married to a Dane, and had two Danish children dutifully baptized into the Church of Denmark (Lutheran

)Yeah, even the ever-so-progressive Danes are keen to keep an eye on foreigners who set up shop in their country. BTW, Sarah is now a citizen of both Denmark and the US, as are the children, and the coppers don't come to their house anymore.
The point is this. The Kingdom of Denmark has no obligatrion to accept any foreigner who shows up. If they'd told my daughter to get lost and not come back, they'd have been wholly within their rights.
It's their country!
Not a country where legislators can be arrested for being out of town.
Legislators who deliberately leave town fo the purpose of shutting down the legislatier should be both prosecuted and have their pay docked for the time they were on the lam. What makes them above the law?
Not a country where people can earn $10,000 for reporting a neighbor for having an abortion.
A stupid law, to be sure, and in all likelihood unenforcible.
DEI, in most of not all of its incarnations is illegal under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which explicitly outlaws racial and other discrimination. There is no provision for "but it's for a good cause", it's bloody well against the law. DEI us nothing more or less than official, legal,n discrimination. "You need 5 more Mexican immigrants, 4 more Black folks (3 women, 1 man), 2 transsexuals, (preferably one a paraplegic or blind), no Asians, they're a drug on the market, and maybe a couple of white women even if you need to sack a coupke of white boys to make room."
- Finally, there booby-trapping the Rio Grande (international waters) in order to deter (and occasionally kill) immigrants is (one of the worst descriptions I can think of) absolutely Netanyahu-esque.
Agreed. The Rio Grande is harardous enough in itself, there's no good reason to make it moreso. The barriers should go on the southern side of the river.
So it just sounds like good old fashioned regional bickering again, with more than a little phony "moral" posturing tossed in for lagniappe.
Lob in a few references to Hitler just for seasoning, and few remarks about "deplorables" and/or "toothless illiterates". Just make sure you make it plain how much better you are than people like us. You could have fun painting people like me as "white-washed" sellouts to explain us away (althougt I reckon I can be white half the time if I like), because we do need "woke" white saviors to go to bat for us. I mean, my poor, discriminated against, put upon, multiracial (25% white, 75% Korean) daughters couldn't possibly have succeeded as brilliantly as they have growing up as non-white females in the benigted South. But maybe they just got it fron their parents who told 'em they were God's Gift (and they were) and that they were the best, and the brightest, and to never doubt it, And sonuvagun, they found it was true. We told 'em that if they used the gifts God had given them, that they'd never fail, and they never have.
