You CANNOT prove beyond reasonable doubt what is directly god inspired and what is not. It is something you must take on faith.
You cannot even prove that what is directly God inspired must be taken as "literal and inerrant."

God gave Adam dominion over all the earth.

Adam named the animals, and was given the job akin to that of a husbandman.

Thus he had knowledge in the fields of zoology and botany.

I can't imagine he not being given a tour around the earth.

Much like a new hire, who gets a "five cent tour" of the premises.

You "imagine" that Adam was given a tour "around" the earth? There's no amount of sheer speculation in any of that, is there?

Wouldn't you give a new-hire [at least] a five cent tour?

........................... :doh1:

I have a feeling from this reply, that in your mind, you're condemning Adam and all Old Testament personnel to having lived lives at the mercy of those who believed in a flat earth cosmology.

Despite the fact that Adam had personal walks and talks with the Creator of the earth.

Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

As did Enoch for three hundred years ...

Genesis 5:22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

And Noah would have certainly known the earth was round.

I say it takes more faith to believe in a flat earth, than it does a round one.

Ancient Greece was pre-western. You might want to define how you understand “western”.
It's often referred to as the cradle of Western civilization. But regardless I don't take issue with a few Greeks understanding the earth as a sphere but this doesn't mean all Greeks understood the earth this way and if we are being honest the vast majority would see the earth as flat (or whatever shape their mythologies point to) but at least for a select few they were able to determine the earth was a sphere. Greeks just happened to love that sort of ideology that these people weren't burned at the stake, but there is a mess of things they got wrong too. There are other examples that even predate the Greeks but like with Greece these are exceptions held by an elite few and not positions held by the masses.

I agree.

Those who accepted the testimonies of God's people knew the earth was round.

Those who took the testimonies of unbelieving empiricists "knew" the earth was flat.

This is a rare case where God said one thing, academia said another, and science eventually broke the tie.

All Christians believe that. Nothing in that passage requires us to accept that the creation stories in Genesis are literal accurate history, only that God inspired them.

That's a wile of the devil, so as to keep the Bible out of history class.

Yep. YEC’s are a minority. In addition there all manners of literary mechanism used in scripture such as poetic language. However, reading the Bible should not be any different from how you read any other non fiction book. For example, when reading non fiction the assumption is literal unless it is obviously non literal.

What non-fiction genre are you talking about? Why should we suppose that anything in the Bible can be fit into a rigid fiction/non-fiction dichotomy?

:swoon:.... AV, do you ever read any Christian Theology, of any sort, from any other denominational sources, or from any other fields, other than what your local pastor approves of?

I'm asking because I have a feeling from this reply, that in your mind, you're condemning all other Christians to having believed lies at the mercy of those who believed in an alternative avenue of Biblical Exegesis and Hermeneutics.

I took Bible as Literature in college.

This might sound like a dumb question, but just out of curiosity, did you take your own Bible, or was One supplied?

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

Prime Directive: Under no circumstances whatsoever is the Bible to be contradicted.

You just refuse to answer someone else's questions, don't you?

Enjoy your little unjustified, bull-dozer bubble you've built for yourself. (Also, I'd be careful with assuming #4 too much............)
