“So we’re taking a look, and it looks like it’s about 3.1 billion,” Mr. Trump started in, prompting Mr. Powell to shake his head. “It went up a little bit — or a lot.”....

“So, the 2.7 is now 3.1,” Mr. Trump continued, causing Mr. Powell to recoil and look at the president with a puzzled expression....

“You just added in a third building,” Mr. Powell said.

“It’s a building that’s being built,” Mr. Trump said.

“No, it was built five years ago,” Mr. Powell said.

Powell confronted a Trump mis-respresentation face to face.

Here's an OIG report from February 2022 about the Fed's contract management processes, which describes on pg 6-7 how the Martin building was finished in 2021 (emphasis added):

The Board’s Renovation Projects

The Board plans to renovate all four of its buildings, and these renovation efforts have been grouped into
three projects. The Board has awarded four contracts for the renovation projects to facilitate the work.

• Martin renovation. The Board awarded its construction contract for the Martin building in 2018. The Board awarded three contracts to support construction: (1) a construction contract for supervision, labor, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the full renovation; (2) an architectural and engineering (A/E) contract to respond to the construction contractor’s questions related to design or site conditions and to conduct merit assessments on proposed changes to the construction contract; and (3) a construction administrator (CA) contract to conduct site visits, monitor the construction schedule, and provide advice to the Board on proposed schedule or cost changes, including preparing independent cost estimates. The Board moved packed items into the building during September 2021 and began moving employees in during November 2021.

Maybe he's leaning on his vast media experience and remembering that turning blue would go well with his usual orange.

Orange mixed with blue makes a reddish mud color. Side by side the contrast looks pretty great tho.

No economist in America, whether progressive or conservative, believes it's wise for the president to replace the Federal Reserve chair or lower interest rates during inflation and uncertainty. I don't understand President Trump's fixation with Chairman Powell.

The Federal Reserve is the one place in government where technocrats are still allowed to run things in spite of political considerations. That's entirely anathema to Trump's approach to governing.
