I think so, if we read

Isaiah 23

it tells us, thus, Isaiah 23 is an encrypted prophecy

King James Bible
The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

Be silent, you people of the island, and your merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarers have enriched…. Be ashamed O Sidon, and you, O fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken…. Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you people of the island. Is this your city of revelry, the old, old city, whose feet have taken her to settle in far-off lands? Who planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are renowned in the earth? The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring low the pride of all glory and to humble all who are renowned on earth…. The Lord has stretched out his hand over the sea and made its kingdoms tremble. He has given an order concerning Phoenicia [or Canaan] that her fortresses be destroyed. —Isaiah 23:2–9,11

There are many interesting legends about Atlantis which I shall be sharing in this thread.

From the book

Atlantis: The Antediluvian World, Donnelly,

Chapter VI. GENESIS CONTAINS A HISTORY OF ATLANTIS

The Hebrews are a branch of the great family of whicli that powerful commercial race, the Phoenicians, who were the merchants of the world fifteen hundred years before the time of Christ.

The Hebrews carried out from the common storehouse of their race a mass of traditions, many of which have come down to us in that oldest and most venerable of human compositions, the Book of Genesis.

I have shown that the story of the Deluge plainly refers to the de- struction of Atlantis, and that it agrees in many important particulars with the account given by Plato.

Does your source say where he has shown that "the story of the Deluge plainly refers to the destruction of Atlantis"? As he refers to Genesis as "that oldest and most venerable of human compositions" he presumably doesn't believe that Genesis is God's Word. If he is wrong on that vital matter, I wonder if we can really trust him when he says what he does about Atlantis.

You need to read not only The Sunken Kingdom by Peter James but a lot of other ancient history from round the world.

Plato was an ironist for his own safety and i ) combined different details from different stories, ii ) reversed the moral positions of Athens and Lydia.

Noah's flood shows that the sea rose, then fell by less than it had risen.

The sum total of stories of the many Atlantises medium sized and small (stories nearly all perished) is not that there was one big land mass as per Donnelly. Myths may encode a political dimension, e.g a former land potentate Poseidon (a.k.a Fosite) apparently had to become a sea lord, and probably religious repercussions too.

Where was/is Atlantis?
I asked ChatGPT for a rough estimate of how many places had been proposed as the location of Atlantis. It said "a rough estimate is that more than 150 different locations have been proposed for Atlantis over the years." It will give you a list if you wish. :) I have been impressed by the work that has gone into some of the proposals, but thus far none of them have convinced me. I am not attracted to the one proposed here.

Atlantis never existed.

But the story of Atlantis which Plato recounts may have been a cultural memory of the destruction of the island of Santorini. The volcano on the island erupted and it was catastrophic, the island blew up because of the blast. And it's probably a major factor in the decline of the Minoan civilization. By the time of Plato stories and legends may have evolved, and so what Plato recounts is probably an example of such a story based on the very real destruction of Santorini.

But Atlantis itself? Never existed. And not only didn't exist, but couldn't have existed. There is no significant landmass in the Atlantic, and never was one, and the geology of the Atlantic doesn't permit for there to have been one, because that's not how geology, or the planet, works.

No. It never existed; it was a fictional allegory written by Plato and the flood couldn't have happened.

It covered from the Mediterranean to the America's or so the book tells us.
So it covered Spain and Portugal? Did it span the Mid Atlantic Trench?
