At the time of having it. Then upon waking you can hardly believe it was a dream
That’s normal. When you are aware that you are dreaming it is known as lucid dreaming. Which is good fun if you get good at it.

I don't know. It wasn't like a typical lucid dream. It was far too real for that.

Hmm. Sometimes I have dreams that feel and look so real it almost hurts. Like the colors become blindingly vivid. Usually they quickly become lucid dreams and I soon become too self aware and wake up.

I always know I'm sleeping if I'm dreaming. However, I may not know I'm asleep if i am woken when not dreaming, that's scary. Being woken from non rem sleep makes my heart thud and I'm confused.

My dreams are extremely vivid but not often too realistic. One felt kind of real lately and that was probably because it was about spiritual matters I'd been beating myself up about.

I wason a staircase in our local hospital and a doctor came out of a lift with a patient in a bed. He realised he was lost and the patient was in a crisis situation. The doctor called for help. I couldn't advise. So I decided all I could do was pray. I was praying really boldly and with complete faith fpr the doctor and for the patient.

After someone from church said to me "is this what needs to happen for you to pray in public?" (Not in a judgy way, more quizzically). Yet, that comment made me realise it was a dream and woke me up.

I woke exhilerated from the dream and laid there praying with fervour for everyone who popped into my head. So, while the dream was still like a dream, it felt real while praying. That realness offered me much comfort because it got rid of my self condemnation. I go mute even when a waitress or shop assistant wants to take my order. It showed me that although I go mute in group prayers I can, have done in the past and probably would in future pray when needed.

Often my dreams are quite realistic in the sense I can smell scents that are not present were I am sleeping. I've tasted food. I have felt a breeze or current of water, I've felt fabric or the touch of someone's hand. When my dreams are pleasant, they are very nice, but when I have a nightmare, they can be very disturbing and unsettling.

When my wife has these dreams they come true.

One of them was last sunday night. Argument at the neighbors house at 11pm and im outside with a fire and a rather young and drunk or high woman comes up to me, i tell my wife she should go inside, we sit and talk for 20 minutes while a cab comes and gets her, and my neighbor texts me with his side of the story in the midst of it telling me he kicked her out because she wanted him to drive her somewhere to get fentanyl.

She leaves in a cab and my wife comes out and says "i saw that woman in a dream a year ago".

A little while later two demons came up to me angry that i respected her. They didnt harass me again. Went inside, couldn't sleep, was kept awake praying about certain matters.

So now im left wondering what my wife was thinking all this past year, seeing another woman walk up to me at night...

My dreams are vivid. They don't lack anything compared to real life, but there are qualities that clue me into the fact that I am dreaming. These include recurring themes, fantasy, telepathy, etc.

Being aware of this dynamic gives me a degree of control over a dream's trajectory. In a potential nightmare, this might involve running toward a monster, rather than running away. If it is a product of my own mind, then I am ultimately the one calling the shots. This isn't to say that my conscious mind directs all aspects of my dreams, but it is usually enough to make a difference.

Regarding dream visions, our brains notice more details and patterns than our conscious selves are aware of. These are apparently processed while we sleep. There is some overlap with our waking experiences, so what may be illusory in dreams may allude to reality. Perhaps by refining our experience into insight or useful narrative. Or perhaps there is more to it.

Some dreams closely mirror my waking reality, yet are sufficiently different for me to notice the differences.

I actually had one just a few weeks ago.

In the dream, I was sitting on the floor in the living room, and my little brother was right there next to me, handing me a controller like he always used to. We were playing some silly co-op game, the kind he would usually make fun of me for, but this time he wasn’t teasing me. He was just smiling. We didn’t talk much, but I remember feeling so calm. Like he was really there.

And I knew. Even in the dream, I knew he was gone. But instead of waking up heartbroken, I woke up with this strange peace. Like God let me borrow a moment with him.

I still miss him every day. But that dream reminded me that love doesn’t just stop. It stays with you.

I wonder why there's rarely talk in those dreams. Glad you got that dream. I had one the other day about my partner. He went home after a while and I thought to myself 'if our relationship's so perfect why doesn't he live with me? Then I remembered and thought I'd gone crazy and went around askjng people if I was sane. Then realised I was dreaming and woke up. I was thankful when I woke that i got to see him and spend time with him in the dream. It's ten years this year.

I had 2-3 maybe more recently, I have been ill, lunginflamation, was laid in hospital.

Well, dreamt of deceased and nondeceased, nothing dramatic, but was very dissapointed on awakening.

But being a believer I am automatically insane, so why worry.

"Those people of whom you have doubts," said God to Moses, "are believers, the children of believers."
