Father James Martin, a liberal Roman Catholic Jesuit, described former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's homosexual parenting as "beautiful" and likened it to the relationships within the Trinity during a podcast earlier this week.

During a wide-ranging, hour-long discussion that touched on Buttigieg's upbringing and faith, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, told Martin that embracing homosexuality brought him closer to God.

"As a friend of mine put it when he was going through this process, there's two things I'm really sure about: one is that God loves me, and another is that I'm gay," said Buttigieg, who is Episcopalian.

Father James Martin really knows how to test people's patience :sigh:
He’s gotten away with it for years. It puzzles me as to why he seems off limits as far as discipline.

(Of course, so does Pete but the priest is supposed to be held to a higher standard)
Pete sadly left the Church. Hopefully he repents one day.

As for Father Martin: Do not become many teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive a greater judgment. James 3:1
And “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves." Matthew 7:15

Father Martin strikes me more of a person bent on destruction of the Church, than for gay rights.

I don’t recall Pete Buttigieg was ever a practicing Catholic himself was he?
He was raised Catholic and later became Episcopalian. I don't believe his father had a Catholic funeral IIRC.

I hope so too but when was the last time an openly gay person actually did this?
Unfortunately, it doesn't happen often. It takes a lot of humility to repent. Only by the grace of God.

He had a friend in a somewhat high place. We might have a better pope now. Hoping. Praying. Waiting.

The RCC seems very reticent to discipline anyone that shares the ideologies of the world. Now if he wanted a TLM or refused to put up a Pride Flag, not so much. That's been my observations since becoming Catholic. I’d be very surprised if that started changing.

And that is the current sickness in the Church. We have come to love the world more than we love the Lord. And a fish rots from the head. We do need a generous application of St. Damien's medicine. I don't know if maybe pope Leo can deliver some of it.
