The spokesperson said a disabled person in Texas, who was unable to work, struggled to get their Social Security disability payments because an illegal alien was fraudulently using their identity and earning wages at Glenn Valley Foods. Another victim in Colorado received a notice from the IRS to repay more than $5,000 after their income was falsely increased due to an illegal alien using their identity to work at the plant. In Missouri, a full-time nursing student lost their college tuition assistance because it was fraudulently reported that they earned too much money due to an illegal alien at Glenn Valley Foods using their Social Security number.

Victims continue to suffer because of past Democratic Party border policies.

Another person living in California has had to work for nearly 15 years to regain their identity and fix the financial damage done by an illegal who was working at Glenn Valley Foods, according to the spokesperson.

15 years? It seems like somebody should have dealt with Glenn Valley Foods a long time ago. If multiple social security frauds going back decades have been traced back to the employees of this one company.

Remind us of all the legislation the Republicans, who have known if these issues for decades, have introduced to fix these issues? What's that? It's not just one political party ignoring the issue like you continue to try to paint it to be. Gosh, I'm so shocked.

That was a major screwup on the part of the labor contractor or whoever set up those identities. They are suppose to use "safe" SSNs to create trabajadors fantasmas.

“Officials have historically ascribed a "high proportion" of the file’s growth to wages reported by illegal immigrants, and it has swelled alongside their population, which stands at a conservatively estimated 11.5 million today, 7 million of whom are employed. Among those doing so on the books, federal authorities have found that well over 1 million are using Social Security numbers belonging to someone else – i.e. stolen or "shared" with a relative or acquaintance – or numbers that are fabricated.”

Perhaps what we are seeing here is an indication that someone is finally starting to use those records intelligently.

I mentioned this aspect multiple other threads...

It shoots holes in the notion that "illegal immigration is a victimless crime" narrative.

While responses we've seen to these types of stories are the predictable "It's the fault of the companies and/or staffing agencies for not doing better vetting", that's an unrealistic expectation given that there's pushback on the notion of data sharing between the IRS and other government agencies when the idea has been floated...

The reality is, when you live in a country where employment requires documentation (which they should), illegal immigration creates a market for stolen identities, plain and simple.

No, it was a screw-up. SSNs are more often "borrowed" from complicit individuals who receive a small emolument. Using SSNs where the extra reported income would ring alarm bells was just carelessness.

Even if the person is volunteering their SSN for someone else to use, that's a still a crime, correct?

That's like saying "well, they actually meant to file the fraudulent insurance claim on this other person's insurance policy who agreed to it for a cut of the loot, but they accidentally filed it under the wrong person's name"...

That doesn't change the criminal intent

It's still a crime, but harder to detect than using a random number of someone who isn't in on the scheme.

This is beginning to sound like a catechism. Where are you going with it?

It’s an old scam. I worked with a hispanic girl whose grandfather was collecting social security benefits from someone who passed away by using their identity. She said it so casually as if there was nothing to it and we were working for the government at that time.
