Are you sure you should be alone? I’m sorry that’s a lot to go through again. A care giver would be so handy. I think you talked about it. Thats about 8 months ago! Long time to be under the weather having a hard time. Woo wee.
well you sound strong. You could sell your house and go to assisted living on the coast somewhere. They make it nice. Room, board, cleaning, nice people. Good meals. Any where in the country you like? My mom and dad were managers of a couple places in holiday retirement corporation. Comfortable.
Thanks. I have someone coming twice a month now and figured out how to get my trash out to the street so that's progress. I'm in my favorite part of the country!

Today I went to a cataract surgeon and had my eyes tested. Both eyes have cataracts but the left eye is worse because it also has astigmatism. So I will be getting the left eye first and have wait and see approach on the right eye.

Cataract surgery has come a long way over the years! You'll do fine.

When will your first eye be done? Prayers. :praying:

My husband and I both have very small cataracts in both eyes, it will be a while before either of us have them done. But we don't drive at night anymore. The car headlights and the street/business lights absolutely blind me, plus they all have twinkly halos. :(

My friendly helpful neighbors have moved to a large luxurious home. They lived next door for about 12 years.

I bought singles packets fertilizer for my petunias and creeping Jenny.

They have to reserve a place at the local hospital. I opted for that because of the other health issues I have. So it could take awhile before they call me.

My mind is on summer flowers: dipladenia, creeping Jenny, and petunias Planting in previous years was May 10. This year, June is better. What flowers are the rest of you planting? Mine will go in pots.

I fertilized my trees crape Myrtle so they bloom. First rain in fall maybe. They haven’t grown much since I clipped all the terminal growth. But full and strong. Had my whole grassy yard cut today. The irises are done. The daffodil early and the redbud is huge. And IGA is full of verges .to buy.. safe.

I haven't seen Crepe Myrtle in years. It's very beautiful. I love Dutch irises but haven't planted any since we moved to the Midwest. I've never had bearded irises. I went absolutely daffodil crazy when we bought this house but they're at the far back of the property so I can't see them from the house. All my flower pots are out front so they'll be easy to water when the blasted 80 and 90 degree heat arrives. I melt in hot weather.

I like to be indoors. But the daffodils must be where it’s shady. Out crapes get afternoon sun. Midwest is humid though different. I like the trees though and the buck brush.
The wind blows millions of maple seeds into my front yard from my neighbor's tree and every June a cottonwood tree benind my property sheds. What a mess! Another problem is volunteer mulberry trees. I like the dogwood trees I planted in my backyard: my favorites!

Is buck brush what people in Maine call puckerbrush? LOL.

Oh, it's a specific plant.

Ceanothus cuneatus, or Buckbrush, is a beautiful, hardy evergreen shrub that brings a wealth of ecological benefits to your garden. Its clusters of small white flowers bloom in early spring, attracting a wide variety of native bees and serving as a host plant for multiple butter

Yes dogwoods are by far the most beautiful trees. I’ve only see two in the wild. The branches make such amazing sprigs all covered with flowers. We had a rug with dogwoods.

and ceanothus doesn’t resist being shaped. It’s is a volunteer, quite big. These lots had a lot of it even after our house was built and the does would come and fawn and hide them in our yard and go and eat or water and come back. I thought it was food, but I don’t see it touched.

My bearded irises finished blooming about a month ago and are now just beautiful green foliage. The Dutch irises finished up a few weeks ago. I cut them back a day or so ago, their foliage is tall and tends to fall over. Crepe myrtles are beginning to bloom, white and watermelon colors so far. Daylilies are in full bloom. The rocket larkspur were on the thin side this year and didn't last long, it's been too wet I think. Only had a few daffodils bloom because they came up way too early and got nipped. My oldest stick cactus bloomed for the first time I know of. Ever! I've had it for about 20 years, maybe more. Haven't planted much new this year, basically a honeysuckle vine and a pink Turk's Cap. It's small but already blooming. Looking forward to the established red Turk's caps to begin blooming.

Awesome!
I planted my petunias and Creeping Jenny today. And remembered to order some lemon grass to repel the mosquitoes!

"In a study published in the American Journal of Entomology in 2019, researchers conducted an experiment in which mosquitoes were given the option to feed on A, B, AB, and O blood types. The mosquitoes chose the Group O feeder more than any other."

I love crepe myrtle!

My lemon grass came today. The return address was so funny: Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. I had never heard of it. I'm an ex-Floridian.

Our crepe myrtles are suddenly in over abundant bloom. Guess it was all the rain and now hotter weather. I have squash, okra, Kentucky Wonder beans, yellow wax beans and southern peas in the garden. Picked the remainder of the beets. Have a few onions left.

What do you do with your lemon grass? Is it easy to grow?

I had eye surgery on Wednesday. Had a biopsy done about seven weeks ago on my eyelid that showed basal cell carcinoma. Doctor said there've been studies that show some will not grow back or spread as our white cells tend to attack the cancerous cells after the trauma of cutting. But it looked like it was beginning to grow back -- there were some deep cells on the biopsy. So he removed a strip of my eyelid, up and down, and sewed it back together, from the bottom of the lid to just below my eyebrow! No further cancerous cells found. But it's all stitched up, and gooky and puffy. Stitches come out Thursday. Thankfully it's to the point I can drive to church tomorrow.

Oh, my goodness! I pray that your eye heals nicely.

I'm extremely impressed by your garden. What are southern peas?

I know lemon grass is an herb, but I only grow it near my porch to repel the mosquitoes.

I can hardly stand this hot muggy weather. I thought we were moving har enough north to escape this!

Thanks! I'm sure it will. The doctor has been very good, I like him. I've had no pain, which is nice.

There are various kinds of southern peas, somewhat related I think. I think the ones I planted are crowder peas. Black-eyed peas are southern peas. I guess the name is all inclusive.

I have a few herbs in pots, mostly various mints and some lemon balm and chives.

I guess we could use lemon grass, the mosquitos have been horrible. It's been muggy here too, dew points in the 70s and high humidity. Yucky!

Hope you've been doing well!

I've never had crowder peas but they look good. I started making Hoppin' John right after we got married and my husband liked it so it became a New Year's tradition. My mother never served it. She raised one of my brothers to be picky like she was! I didn't know how incredibly picky she was until long after I married!
