A tax increase on American consumers reduces the deficit.
Should we say "hooray"?
So would not reducing the taxes on the rich to the point a lot of corps pay no effective rates in the Trump bill at all.
The MSM video also notes the reduction in the economy.
Moreover, the high tariffs are not sustainable and just like last Trump tariff war, we will have to use the money to bail industry out.

Making a ten year economic prediction is beyond stupid.
Especially since we know that TACO. And... isn't he supposed to be making deals with all these countries to get rid of the tarriffs? How many deals has he made so far? Supposed to be like 200 right? One for every country on Earth and then a few extra for the penguins.

Yep, he’s sent begging letters to those countries and everything. But everyone knows that Trump will back down. He’s famous for it.

Whenever I see threads like this, I wonder what happened to conservatives who voted for Reagan, Bush, McCain, and Romney. These voters must have stopped voting because otherwise we wouldn't have a Republican president who supports tariffs.

Never mind. It's a great plan. The tariffs will pay off the debt, and it's the working class who will be paying the tariffs. Perfect.

well .. here is the part the Pro-tariff people will not care to tell .. the same CBO report says

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff plan would cut deficits by $2.8 trillion over a 10-year period while shrinking the economy, raising the inflation rate and reducing the purchasing power of households overall, according to an analysis released Wednesday by the Congressional Budget Office.

There is no way the tariffs will bring in $2T in revenue per year.
the figure is 2.8T over 10 years, so 280B per year. Still, when you factor in all the other stuff about shrinking economy and the Farm report that was conveniently delayed until after this report when they're usually released together.... the picture is not anywhere near as rosy as suggested.

Its a tax burden transfer from the wealthy to everyone in the middle and below.
Yes.
Also note that's if all the high tariffs are in place for 10 years, which is unsustainable and will not happen regardless being past the halfway point of the "90 deals in 90 days" halfway point without no one, and again I say, not one trade deal done.
The Amazons and Wallmarts may be able to eat some of the tariffs, but no forever.
Moreover, these tariffs are killing small and midsize US businesses who can not eat some of the tariffs.

These guys are economic morons.

Well, I can tell you that there's a lot fewer people left today who voted for Reagan than there were 40 years ago.

CBO report is here: https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/2025-06/61389-Tariff-Effects.pdf

This is an interesting line: "By 2035, CBO estimates, the level of real GDP will be 0.6 percent lower than it was in CBO’s economic forecast from January 2025. "

The CBO is forecasting that tariffs with reduce the overall size of the US economy over the next decade.

Are you for or against tariffs?

It depend on the day.

On the day President Trump raised tariffs, the position is "Promise made, promise kept. Look how much revenue America is generating from foreign governments."

The day President Trump lower or postponed tariffs, the position is: "Promise made, promise kept. See how President Trump is standing up for America and negotiating with other countries."
