Here's a link. For some reason this isn't getting much attention...

Police Arrest Protestors at Seattle's Cal Anderson Park

Oh wow .. that's crazy. And what he said is what certainly a goodly portion of those who identify as Christians believe in...

It was a public stand for biblical values: the sanctity of life, biological truth, and the importance of family and faith. That was enough to draw violence.”

That's just normal Christian values, pretty much anywhere . What's wrong with people...

People have a right to peacefully protest. Period.

Which apparently they weren't doing - they were a violent mob. It's got to stop. People have a right to gather to discuss issues of faith without violent mobs attacking.

If we don't stand against it we will live in exactly the society we deserve, and apparently religious freedom will be on the chopping block.

Ah, I see. #4 still stands though.

From the article in the OP:

"The demonstration was put on by a group called “On Fire Ministries,” which is led by Christian fundamentalist pastor and former state representative Matt Shea."

For those unfamiliar with Matt Shea, you can read about him here: Report of Investigation Regarding Representative Matt Shea

This was a peaceful demonstration. It only turned violent when the mob of people who are against the Christian values of the the demonstrators attacked the peaceful demonstration. The mayor of Seattle ought to be ashamed of himself. But, of course, he is not.

And the mayor stood up and blamed the Christians for having their rally in what is known to be a LGBTQ hot spot.
The thing is, the ministry wanted to have the rally somewhere else, but were directed to have it in this park by the city!
The teachings of this group are by no means radical or provocative. They are mainstream Christian beliefs. Our local Episcopalian church teaches the same things as do most of the other churches in our area.

If we do not stand up for our rights, this will become "normalized," and believers who express their beliefs outside of the four walls of their church will be vilified and even criminalized. We already hear radical extremists calling for all such speech to be limited to churches. The "freedom-loving" radical left wants the freedom for everyone to do anything... except for Christians. I wonder why that is? It is almost as if there is an invisible force pulling their strings! And there is...

The people behind the rally belong to a far-right fringe movement that teaches Dominionism and Christian nationalism. They are not mainstream.

These are domestic terrorists.
Matt Shea, one of the organizers of the event, has participated in acts of domestic terrorism in the past.

Assuming that you are correct, does that justify their being attacked and condemned by Seattle's mayor?

This far-right group had a right to publicly voice their opinions, and the physical attacks against them and the police were not justified. However, I agree with the mayor's position. Matt Shea and the organizers of the event knew in advance the response they would get in Seattle and had they held the event downtown as they requested, the outcome would have likely been far worse.

By this argument, the marchers in Selma, Alabama on Sunday, March 7, 1965, were to blame because they knew in advance the response they would get. Sorry: I don't go along with that.

The Christian group was not a far right group. They had applied for a permit to hold their service at a
different location, knowing that the city location was used by the LGBTQ groups who they knew would
react as they did. The city turned down their permit request and gave them a permit to operate in the
park with the assurance that they would have police protection. It was there that the violence against
the Christians took place.

Listen to one of the leaders who was there;

They promote Dominionism and Christian nationalism, which are right-wing ideologies.
No they don't and the rioters did not protest this, but claimed that Christian beliefs
equal hatred of LGBTQ+ ideologies. They committed violence against the Christians
for merely being in that park which they think they own.

According to the counterprotester's sources, they were protesting the far-right group and everything they stand for, which includes Christian nationalism and Dominionism.

Community fights back against Christian nationalist anti-trans hate rally in Seattle

Matt Shea is a former Army intelligence officer who lost his seat in the Washington state legislature for engaging in domestic terrorism. Now a Christian nationalist pastor, he hosts the Patriot Radio podcast, where he promotes dominionism, an extreme form of Christian nationalism that seeks to elevate Christians above all other groups. Their goal is to take over “seven realms of influence”: education, religion, family, business, government/military, arts and entertainment, and media, and then rule in the name of Christ.

On May 24, many in the majority came out to protest these oppressors. Among them were local members of the Freedom Socialist Party (FSP), Radical Women (RW), Organized Workers for Labor Solidarity (OWLS), and the Puget Sound Mobilization for Reproductive Justice (PSMRJ).

They were united with demands to stop the war on trans and queer folk; empower youth to speak, define, and defend themselves; defend bodily autonomy and abortion rights; stand against the racist Christian Identity movement; and defeat Trump, Musk, and Project 2025. They gathered near the park and entered as a group, forming a buddy system to protect one another in case of attack.

Picket the rightwing in Seattle
Keep your bibles off our bodies
PROTEST FASCIST “FAMILY VALUES”

Anti-queer, anti-trans “Mayday USA” is bringing their reactionary preaching to Seattle with help from rightwing pastor Matt Shea and his Christian Fundamentalist “On Fire Ministries.” Provocatively, they are rallying under the hashtag “DONTMESSWITHOURKIDS” at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill in the heart of Seattle’s Queer community. Let’s send a message with a loud picket line, signs and banners: Bigotry is not welcome here!

Stop the War on Trans & Queer Folk
Empower Youth to Speak, Define & Defend Themselves
Defend Bodily Autonomy & Abortion Rights
Stand Against the Racist Christian Identity Movement
Defeat Trump, Musk, & Project 2025
