Newsom Signals He’s Willing to Work With Trump on $7.5B Federal Tax Credit for U.S. Entertainment Industry

The governor of California has proposed a bold first-of-its-kind initiative after Trump called for a 100 percent tariff on non-U.S. made movies.

California lawmakers are currently aiming to increase the cap on its production [state] tax credit program from $330 million to $750 million a year, vastly boosting the credit to 35 percent while expanding the category of productions that qualify to include shorter TV shows, animated titles and certain types of unscripted projects.

“America continues to be a film powerhouse, and California is all in to bring more production here,” Newsom said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Building on our successful state program, we’re eager to partner with the Trump administration to further strengthen domestic production and Make America Film Again.”

Huh, guess I should rewatch it.

Either way, editing for China is very much a thing.

I found an article in a military magazine:

Who Exactly Was The Bad Guy In ‘Top Gun’?

Apparently the original script had the "bad guys" as N. Korea. The tail insignia looks like China (Yellow circle around star), but the location is very clearly the Indian Ocean.

The intentionality of keeping the villain an amorphous combination of three countries is almost ingeniously done by combining impossible geography, mismatched markings, and fictional aircraft.

But my favorite line was this one about F14s facing the originally script MiG-21s:

Interestingly enough, F-14s did engage MiG-21s in air-to-air engagements — but they were Iranian F-14’s squaring off against Iraqi MiG-21’s.

This brings us to a rather weird situation from 1986, that the nations around the Indian Ocean with the most MiGs were Iraq and India which were nominally friendly to the US, while their greatest rivals (Iran and Pakistan) both flew American fighters.

Just goes to show you.
When every problem looks like a nail, and the only tool in your tool box is the hammer called tariffs, then your foreman is an idiot.

How is a tariff censorship?
You're avoiding my questions. Why should I answer your questions, if you're just going to avoid mine?

There is no point in continuing this interaction, so I'll let you have the last say.
