Maine settles lawsuit against USDA over $3 million in school funds

The Department of Agriculture agreed it will not interfere with Maine school funding based on alleged Title IX violations without following the proper procedure, according to a settlement announced Friday.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced in March that she would freeze funding to Maine education, saying the state violates Title IX because its student-athlete policies allow transgender girls to compete on girls sports teams.

In the settlement, signed Friday morning, the agency agreed not to freeze, terminate or interfere with the state’s access to USDA funds based on the alleged Title IX violations without going through the legally required process.

"I stood in the White House and when confronted by the president of the United States, I told him I’d see him in court. Well we did see him in court, and we won.”

The governor said the federal agency froze money that helps to feed 172,000 children in Maine without any due process, without any rationale and without any ongressional authorization.

The transgender ideology where biological males compete against biological females in sports is sickening and morally disgusting. Whatever happened to protecting the rights of girls and women so that they can compete on fair terms in athletics?

By the way, this is only a temporary setback because I am sure that the "proper procedures" will be followed in order to get the victory on this specific transgenderism topic. I still don't understand why the progressive left wing liberal politicians believe that a majority of Americans agree with them on this issue.

We're talking schools here. Not the Olympics. The organisations that run elite sports are generally working through the problems themselves. I generally trust them to know what's best for the sportsmen and women they represent. I'm sure the fact that you are sickened and morally disgusted will figure in any internal debates that they have.

How many girls must be injured by biological boys before it is too many? How many biological girls must lose a sporting competition against biological males? Why do some liberals appear to have ZERO problems with the biological males defeating biological females in high school or college athletic competition?

I'll have to repeat what I said again. The organisations that run sport will deal with any problems. Just you make absolutely sure that they'll know that you are sickened and morally disgusted. Again, as I said, I'm sure they'll take that on board in their deliberations. How you feel about it will obviously be of prime consideration.

He's received so many hits against him by the courts that if this was a boxing match it would be stopped.
And just think, if he was any other person in the world the courts wouldn't be hitting him at all.

Why would you think that considering that half the cases were brought by him? He also blatantly flouts the law, unlike most other people who held that position.

That's all good for now, I guess. It will still have to play itself out in endless court battles at great expenditure to taxpayers. I'm actually curious and upset about the loss of funding for charitable organizations such as "Save the Children". According to Janti Soeripto, CEO, almost 90% of their foreign aid funds were cut. She points out that in the DRC, they will no longer be able to provide treatment for diseases like MPOX and cholera to hundreds of thousands of poor families and children. In Kenya, they have had to cut out nutritional programs for over 150,000 children under the age of five and over 140,000 pregnant women. She says that, in Ethiopia, they have had to halt their polio vaccination program. In Mozambique, over 2000 tons of already purchased essential food supplies are stuck sitting in warehouses because they no longer have the funds to distribute it. And, In Afghanistan, the abrupt loss of funding has led to the closure of 32 health facilities, which in January alone provided care for 134,000 children. What does this say about the compassion of the administration?

I don't know Maine politics very well but it would seem that democrats would lighten up on being so extreme. Perhaps it is a state's rights issue. If so then that is up to the Maine voters.

What do you mean half the cases are brought by him? He's not suing himself.

He has a penchant for suing other people.
He wouldn't be suing anyone at all with regards to his agenda if activist judges didn't have oppositional defiance disorder.

And he wouldn't have had to sue all those construction people, carpenters, and electricians years ago if they had just built his casinos for free.

All we ask on this topic is that the fairness of competition for biological females be respected. All we ask in this topic is that biological females don't have to share their locker room with biological males. Why do some liberals appear to be taking strong stands against that?

That does make some sense to me if this issue is directly decided by voters.

I don't remember the number I heard, but the number of transgendered athletes participating in Maine HS sports was something like 2. That's is not that many to get all worked up about as a threat.

Americans are such an interesting bunch. You can make SUCH a boogeyman in your head you are OK if innocent children to suffer.

And I say that as a teacher who has a lot of cisgender poor students who benefit from our school lunch program. There is a trans kid in thr mainstream program. Yall want to make his life crappy too. Whatever it takes.

Then why does that very slim minority have so much voice and sway in the world? Like, why does every institution need to bend over backwards to accommodate the transgender groups?
