Im just wondering if my baptism was valid. I was baptized in a bathtub by my mother and father by immersion but Im a tall guy and the top of my knees might have been exposed or might not have been. I'm just wondering if that still makes my baptism valid in the eyes of a Baptist if my knees were exposed?

Some baptisms just involve pouring a little water on someone's head or sprinkling them with water. We're you baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit?

Yes and I was immersed in a bathtub filled to the top with water. I was wondering if I were to go to a baptist church that required baptism by immersion would they count that as immersion?

It would vary based on church, but most Baptist churches require immersion. It should be fine in your case, but I'd talk to a pastor. He should be able to tell you if re-baptism is necessary.

Genuine question: would the Baptist Church consider it valid if not performed by an ordained minister?

I don’t know if your parents are ordained of course! But I am curious.

Am I right in assuming that both you and your parents know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour? If you are, (and you were already a Christian when you were baptized) then providing there was a good reason for being baptized at home in the bath rather than in the context of your church, I see no problem. You weren't deliberately refusing immersion, were you?

Both my parents believe in Jesus, and I wasn't refusing immersion. Part of my family just converted to the Baptist faith, so I just decided to I guess get baptized by my parents. I attend a Baptist church online but the rest of my family live too far away to go to their church so my parents and me decided to have it done at home in the bathtub we were thinking of being immersed at an evangelical church but didn't think that was the right idea because I have social anxiety and they would do it in front of a big crowd so we decided to do it at home. I'm kind of new to this whole Baptist thing. I'm not completely sure if my knees were or weren't under the water and my parents don't remember either so we just presumed I was immersed.

In that case, then providing you as well as your parents are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I see no problem with your knees being un-immersed. I am tall, and when the pastor baptized me, he thought it best to get me to kneel down in the baptistry and plunge me forward.

I would say the problem was your parents did it in private. It should be public. What baptism really is is a public profession of faith

I am glad you are interested in being baptized! I haven't been baptized myself, only as a baby which isn't the same thing. Someday!

Having attended a Baptist church for over 20 years, this was a IMHO valid baptism.
The immersion is a symbolic representation of death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
There are things that are preferred, like doing it in public, having approval from pastoral staff that the person is ready for baptism (my church does a baptismal prep course). Both my sons were baptized at a service by myself and my wife.

I would ask your pastor.

I'm not sure my baptism was right. In 2006 I baptized my Mum down at the beach and then I asked her to do the same for me. The only real witness was my brother as there weren't many people around
I wonder why you and your mum decided to baptise each other, rather than getting baptised in the context of your church.

I have bad anxiety, I don't drive because of it and I don't go out much.
Yes, thanks. It was only after posting on this thread that I saw your post on another thread explaining your bad anxiety. I replied there: "Ah, that answers a question I have just asked you on another thread, asking you why you and your mum chose to baptise each other."

Some Baptist churches would require you to had that administered by a Pastor or Elder of the assembly
