  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tangential to this, EU officials traveling to the USA are now instructed to use the same electronic safety standards as when dealing with Russia and China.

If I wasn't an American, I wouldn't want to risk traveling to America right now. It's far too dangerous. Why risk getting jumped in the street and disappeared to an El Salvadorian gulag?

I'm an American citizen, and at this point I'm just waiting to see when they start doing that to citizens. Not if, but when.

I do not even know what to say to this. I hope the chaos will somehow get sorted out and the proper rule of law and democratic principles will be restored, again.

Tourism is actually a pretty important sector of the American economy. Lots of international tourism in my region. Plus many come for the various national parks, and the experience there will be diminished with staffing cuts.

Even if the US survives four whole years of this, the wounds, both here in this country, as well as the damage done to foreign and international relations is going to take decades to mend.

Even surviving Trump, America has already lost. And it will, at the very least, take a long time before America will be allowed at the grown up table.
