So there was a video on YouTube that I saw recently that raised a really good theological point that I wanted to share with the Christian forums. It was entitled 10 ways Christians make their lives miserable without even realizing it and one of the reasons on the list was when we deny God's Sovereignty. I mean, think about it.
if our God is not Sovereign than we have no guarantee of our salvation because Jesus's death wouldn't of had infinite value. I mean think about it. If God is not sovereign than Jesus basically died for nothing but because God is sovereign we know that our salvation is guaranteed because an all sovereign God bought that salvation for us. Also if God were not sovereign there would be no guarantee of the promise of eternal life. God couldn't deliver on that promise because something somewhere, would and could fall again. But because God is sovereign if God declares there will never he another fall than there never again will be one. No fall = guarantee of an eternal salvation.
If our God is not sovereign we would live in constant fear of the unknown. Unknown if we would lose our jobs, our health, our lives, our spouses, our children, ...etc. But because we know that God is completely sovereign we know that when these things happen we know that they are part of a bigger picture in the story of God's will. Death and tragedy happens in this world for a reason and it all happens under God's mighty hand nothing happens outside of God's sovereign control. This brings peace to the followers of God. As Ji Packer would say it frightens the Godless but stabilizes the saints.
If our God were not sovereign there would be no way for the world to exist as it does. There's no way that atoms could function perfectly, cells perfectly, bacteria, DNA, grass, Nature ...etc without God being in complete control. If God isn't sovereign the world would be in chaos.
So yeah if your god isn't sovereign than it would cause you to be miserable because you'd never be sure of our salvation, you'd never be sure that ultimately all things would work out for good, you'd never be sure that the world wouldn't implode in on itself... I mean praise God that he is completely sovereign over all things!
