I'm not a Roman catholic so I don't know why you're addressing this to me, or what it has to do with anything.I'm a Protestant and I'm not interested in arguing with somebody who already has their mind made up and only looking to score cheap polemical points. I am unpersuaded by the claims that Rome has an infallible tradition in the same way I'm unpersuaded by Mormon claims to have secret golden tablets.
Of course I believe the Bible has a history behind it. I'm not philosophically naive and I'm not a fundamentalist. I accept biblical scholarship as a valid discipline, else I wouldn't be a Mainline Protestant. I consider Protestantism to be about the minimum one needs to have assurance of salvation, not a totalizing, self-contained dogmatic system, a la Francisco Suarez's Catholicism.
