  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I wanted to visit churches for a while and found one that was close to me and have a community I am familiar with. I was stopped by one of the local staff and ID-ed me, saying Muslims are not allowed due to security policies and that it's a muslim country and they will face a problem if people started thinking they are evanglizing people. I am an ex muslim and I wanted to feel connected but I didn't want to pressure them or make the situation awkward so I just left in silence.

Sorry to hear that - there are several countries with laws like that, yet hopefully some believers will choose to obey God more than man at the right moment for you - maybe find home-based fellowship/church if available around your area? In the meantime ask anything here ..

You have to try to see it from their perspective. Christians have reason to be fearful. It is not so much that a small group of radicals with obvious political ties have no scruples about beheading men, women, and children... it is the lack of outrage from more moderate Muslims. They, like everyone else, are only human. So, if it seems like Christians are scared... it is because they are. This is a gruesome read, so beware:

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - More than 70 bodies, including women, children and the elderly, were discovered on February 14 in a church of the Evangelical and Baptist Center of Congo and Africa (CEBCEA) in Kasanga, near the village of Maiba, in the Lubero area, in the province of North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to reports by Radio Okapi, local civil society believes that these are the bodies of missing people kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on February 12. The bodies of the people, beheaded with machetes, were found with their hands tied behind their backs.
It is suspected that Islamists of the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces), a group originally from Uganda that has been active for decades in the east of the DRC, especially in North Kivu, committed the massacre. In 2019, the ADF joined the Islamic State (for the birth and development of the militia, see Fides, 24/6/2023), which further strengthens its "jihadist" profile.
The Ugandan army has increased its presence in the Congolese provinces of Ituri and North Kivu in recent days, officially to act against the ADF, but perhaps also to control (or support?) the offensive of the M23 and the Rwandan army in the Congolese provinces of North and South Kivu. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 21/2/2025)

Briefly ask them how else and where else someone like yourself can learn from them about the Christian faith and follow Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, since Egypt is predominantly Islamic, you're going to run into political difficulties of this nature, and Christians naturally have to be careful not to upset local authorities, particularly those which are Muslim.

I love Egypt. Love their geography and pyramids and ancient history, but I don't like their politics though and their religious violence. Need to stay away from there.
It's still a popular holiday destination for many Europeans, Russians .. excellent diving sites .. and the Copts may need some support :)

Pardon my lack of not understanding how it works in countries hostile to the Gospel, but wouldn't that church have got there by evangelizing there to some extent?

I am sorry you are having tough time there seeking the Lord. It sounds like you are a brave person.
