Sometimes humor contains the most profound truths. Thank you, Great Shepherd!

1 Peter 5:6-10 KJV
6 "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."

Yes, funny.

I think of how the devil can be like a lion who can't sleep because he constantly is seeking whom he may devour.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" (1 Peter 5:8)

Satan can devour a person with unforgiveness, and other things can eat someone alive > bitterness, dominating demands for pleasure, arguing and complaining . . . loneliness, boredom, frustration.

But with Peter's warning against the devil, he brings in what has God's attention most of all >

that He is perfecting us in Jesus.

So we are wise, then, to put away the nasty stuff so we can stay attentive to God our Father who will guide us and our *attention* the right way.

You are spot on! Those are all products of the devil's schemes - and we learn as we grow in Christ how to recognize him as the source of those evils - through his temptations, deceptions and lies - all made possible by focusing on self.

Was just reading the following in my devotion this morning. I believe it harmonizes perfectly with your response...

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and everything that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to obedience in Christ..."
