CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want to know your history. What have we done aggravates you the most? I'm not sure how tight the controls are on the internet over there, I would be interested in Chinese history.
You remember our gunboat conversation, you were wrong about that when you were Estrid. Like I had said before we've done more good for China than you want to believe, up until the change in government. I will agree with you on some of our actions today when China became a superpower.

The exact phrasing of how one can take a
gunboat up the Mississippi and traveling as deep as
Ohio does not make me “ wrong” about Americans in our rivers
firing machine guns on our citizens.
I did note the snarky evasion of the point I was making
about America armed intervention in our internal affairs.
Which America is still doing w regard to our unresolved
(tnx america) civil war.
If you were “interested” in Chinese history youd
learn some.
Your claims about what I “want to believe”
amounts to a claim you know Chinese history better than
I do.
Your American philosopher Henry D Thoreau said that if he
knew someone was headed his way with intent to “ do him good”,
he’d run for his life.
We resisted “ help” from the West for many years at the cost of many lives.
Said help is welcome as smallpox.

I have by watching old historical movies and I understand the Holywood in the stories but the facts remain war and suffering for the people.
Which incident give me a date and I'll look it up, How many did we kill? Because our history shows a good relationship with the Chinese until you became a communist nation.
Please don't talk about evasion when you don't answer my direct questions.

You think that there was just one incident that involved an American gunboats
in a Chinese river? Three such boats were built just for that purpose!!
You don’t know anything about Taiwan and Americas role in
keeping

Actually I get a certain amusement from watching
Americans demonstrate how little they know even of
their own country, let alone of others.

I don't agree with Astrid about everything, but in this case I think you should take her advice. As a fellow American you seem to me to be profoundly ignorant about the history of our relationship with China.

Hard to say what has been changed in our modern textbook so we may have two different views.
I never claimed myself smart but neither are you because you are criticizing my knowledge and yet provide no proof of your own like Astrid.
The illegal Chinese migrants may hold a different view.
