  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wear black every day. I can probably count on one hand the amount of clothing I own that is not black. Why? Not for religious reasons. Just seems like the thing to do. I want to simplify my wardrobe, and you can wear black to anything.
It just seemed very religious like, because of the style of dress and the cap. That’s all. If that makes sense?

I used to own five cats, so I could NEVER wear dark colors without getting cat fur everywhere.

Don't let JD Vance find out about that.
LOL! They're all gone now :( I'm a faithful Catholic, so I'm sure he can appreciate that ;)

I had a cat 40 years ago. We didn't get along well.
Ahhhh! I adore cats! I'm sure if I was that old, we would have got along ;)

I like cats. But living with one, or at least that one, didn't work out well. It was just a kitten someone was unloading out of a box of kittens. Used to curl up on my chest while I was sleeping. So adorable. Then it grew and I'd wake up with a full sized cat sprawled across my face. It was male and got territorial I suppose. Troublesome teenage cat. One day it didn't come back home. Probably found better digs than my small living quarters. I'll say it also wore a white turban, just to keep this on topic.

Fun fact: It's my understanding Santeria, Hoodoo, and Voodoo are all heavily influenced by Catholicism, and many of them self-identity as Catholic. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep, those practices, just like the cult of Santa Muerte, are syncretic practices. They basically were converted but over time they reincorporated their pagan ideas and rituals into the Catholic faith. Which is why you'll find things like votive candles in voodoo shops.

It's a disgrace that I really wish the Vatican would make more noise about in the offending cultures.

Yeah, I also see those votive candles in Asian grocery stores.
