CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's who Biden is too. Here's a video from a couple of days ago of Biden wishing he could smack a certain group of people.
Just because they said it doesn't mean they ever applied it.
Even if Democrats were the last of the two parties to maintain a semblance of the high road, they still ended up at Trumps level. That is why all this pearl clutching over a comedian's joke is so phoney.

Speaking of pearl clutching, the absurdity of republicans being mad that someone said something mean. As if this isn't the political climate they've been fostering these past 9 long years. Did you forget or just not know how democrats have been called pedophiles, groomers, murderers, and recently "the enemy within" by people in office?
And while the focus has been on one comedian's joke last week, that joke wasn't even the worst of what was said at that rally. One of the speakers said, "The whole <something> party, a bunch of degenerates. Low lives, Jew-haters and low lives. Every one of 'em. Every one of 'em." No reaction at all. There was more in this vein all throughout. Completely ignored. Because it just slides off everybody. Because we all know that's what the republican party is and has been for some time. It's no longer outrageous because it's impossible to sustain outrage for 9 years.
Biden make a remark in his typical Biden way, a comment which can be taken in two ways, a charitable way and a non-charitable way. The charitable interpretation requires an understanding of how to use the possessive apostrophe s, so naturally that was off the table for many.

Democrats have been fostering this political climate these past 9 long years.
Nothing wrong with what they said. They were giving their opinion of the Democrat party and in their opinion the Democrat harbors a lot of anti-Semitism. They could have said it in a less vulgar though.
Yet democrats only seem to give the charitable interpretation to fellow democrats, while only the non-charitable interpretation is given to republicans, as demonstrate by you in your above comment.

Don't confuse random people on the internet calling you names with the messaging coming from the top of the political party. Even the "weird" line they trotted out a while back was limited to just Trump and Vance. And the "garbage" comment is you taking the uncharitable interpretation, the very thing you're complaining about when it comes to partisan divide. And I never gave you my opinion on it, I just stated there were two ways of looking at it.
There is no charitable way to interpret, "they're rapists, they're vermin, deport millions because they're poisoning the blood of our country, criminality is genetic", etc.

Logically, given that THIS is the one of the few times they are getting upset by being called a name (other than "Deplorables), it's actually a pretty clear indication of how INfrequently Democrat leadership employs terms like that.

Any historian who is ranking presidents who have served within the last 20 years is more than likely not sufficiently removed from the situation to be doing so impartially or with sufficient information to make such rankings. So rankings of Trump and Biden are more likely attempts to shape opinion than an honest reflection of their effectiveness.

Gee I wonder why that one congressman would say that all the way back in 2017. Must have been in response to all the racist rhetoric coming from the Republican party like it says in the article. For which that one congressman was then admonished by the rest of the democratic party. Because 'ooh you can't say that!'. Still nothing about nazis or magats though. You're pointing to outliers while the fascist rhetoric is front and center in the GOP in the figure of Donald Trump.
The comparison to an actual nazi rally was a bit of a stretch. I don't think there were enough white supremacist speakers to really justify that. Off the top of my head I can only think of Miller and Carlson.
