  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Unearthed video reiterates Harris’ previous support for fracking ban. Harris also expresses support for 'Green New Deal.'

Trump has seized on Harris’ previous push for a fracking ban in recent weeks, arguing during the debate last week that "fracking in Pennsylvania will end on day one" if she is elected president.
If she gets away her deception and is successful in banning fracking that will be enough to crash our economy.

Gradually new technologies in renewable energy will reduce the need for fracking. Sticking with it in the interim may be a necessary compromise and as long as we keep our eye on the goal we can put up with it temporarily.

Fracking can cause earthquakes as well as ground water pollution. I don’t know if this can be sufficiently mitigated.

The New Green Deal has many valid arguments.

Yep the game now requires the candidates to shift toward center on select issues where they might be vulnerable.

Lets not act like we're surprised when Harris or Trump does it.

But I do appreciate how much fun it can be to point fingers when the "other side" does it. I probably ridicule Trump for it too.

I would like to hear why she changed her mind about fracking.
She said she would support Joe's position as his vice president. It's on video in her debate with Pence.

Stopping the poisoning of the water is of course the best thing for the environment, but I believe the reason why increased production of Natural Gas is so important at this point in time, is because of the Russia and Ukraine war.

I didn't watch that debate so people are left thinking she is pandering for a vote in Pennsylvania. She did say in the debate that climate change is an "existential threat" and now fossil fuels are OK and some say bad for the environment.

My bad, I need to remember that Jesus also said we must be as wise as a serpent.

Anyway, I generally think people know poisoned water is bad and naturally everyone should be for clean water. Benzene and other forever pollutants can cause damage to DNA.

But just so you know, the reason America must frack now is because of the Ukraine Russia war. We have to heat Europe and all who formerly were dependent upon Russia for their natural gas so as to support sanctions.

Harris did not just support the Green New Deal, she co sponsored it.
How did she manage that? The GND with which we're all familiar didn't become a thing until late 2018 - after she'd already been out of the Senate for nearly two years. Do VP's co-sponsor legislation now?

ETA: Obvious facepalm on my part. Gonna leave it here for lulz.

Mike Pence was vp in 2018. Harris was a Senator from Jan 2017 to Jan 2021.

I did google. That's how I knew it became a thing in 2018. The answer is that I got my dates wrong.

She is and will say most anything in order to get elected ... when one goes back and pulls up various videos she is not consistent on many things. She for the most part does not state HOW she will do anything.
