This Week's Prayer Guide
September 15 - This week, pray for the needs and challenges of the people in Lanzhou. Pray that the church will witness Christ by loving and helping to meet the needs of their neighbors.
September 16 - A pastor shares that there is a barrier between Muslim Hui people and Han Chinese people in Lanzhou. "I've always believed that this is a sin that the church has not recognized. There is such a large Muslim population in this city, but the church, because it is made up of Han Chinese, turns a blind eye to them. But when you are unwilling to love your neighbor, it will in turn affect the development of the local church." Pray for Han Christians to live in love, not hatred, that they may reach out to the Muslim people who live in Lanzhou.
September 17 - One Lanzhou pastor observes, "When we talk about missions to foreign tribes or missions in general, we tend to picture going to a distant Muslim community. We imagine our church sending a missionary to a specifically Muslim community to preach the gospel to them. But when it comes to sharing the gospel with Muslims around us, we lack that same feeling, that same urgency." Pray for a sense of urgency for Christians in Lanzhou, that they might prioritize reaching out to their local community with the gospel.
September 18 - A pastor in Lanzhou shares that, when a Muslim person in Lanzhou becomes a Christian, there are only Han Chinese churches available to them. As such, "they are forced to assimilate into the Han Chinese circle, leading to a break with their entire family due to their change in faith. They can no longer return to their families. So, we might save one Muslim, but we cause their entire family to resent Christianity." Pray for wise solutions for this problem, and for a more diverse church in Lanzhou.
September 19 - Pray for the increasing unemployment in Lanzhou, for young people who can't find jobs and who, as a result, don't want to get married or have children.
September 20 - A pastor in Lanzhou asks for prayer for the fact that, "The barrier and wall between believers and unbelievers seems so high. Sometimes, our brothers and sisters feel disheartened because they've tried so hard to bring people to church, and some have even come three or four times, but there's no sign of genuine repentance, rebirth, or being touched by God. I think the frequency of people with no Christian background coming to church and coming to faith is rapidly declining."
September 21 - A pastor in Lanzhou asks for prayer, "that God will truly build a heart for missions in our church. May the Lord use more brothers and sisters who are willing to enter into God's mission and be truly touched by the Gospel, by the Gospel of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."
