  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In short....we're helping the Ukraine to get at that sweet sweet stockpile of minerals under the soil.

How much?

Trillions worth.

Did you think this was about Putin? About the good people of the Ukraine?

Nah.

We're fueling the war so they fuel our EV cars later.

Not a shocker.
We, and Europe, are funding this war so that the minerals of Ukraine can be sold to the West. Follow the money, my friends.

He did put a more Republican spin on it, i.e., money. I would guess there are a number of motives for supporting Ukraine, that being one of them. But it's also no secret that we don't pour this kind of support into just any conflict. Folks in Sudan/Darfur are being slaughtered, and we yawn.

...and Putin is part of this grand scheme? He was, after all, the person who decided to invade and start a war.

I'm not sure what you are asking me?

If the OP is confusing....just point out the confusing part.

Is Sudan also sitting on trillions of dollars of battery fuel?

Indeed.

It's pretty messed up how few people in the legislative branch seem interested in preventing these wars or at least not dumping all our money into it. At the rate we're spending....we should own the Ukraine if they manage a victory.

Is this what you're referring to?

During their call, Putin told Biden that Ukraine's bid to join NATO must be denied in return for assurances that Russian troops would not carry out an attack. Ukraine has sought acceptance into the alliance since 2002.

It's possible that Putin was being serious about not invading if the US was willing to deny the Ukraine entry into NATO....it's also possible that he would have invaded anyway. It's entirely possible that Biden's handlers thought that it was safer for the Ukraine to join NATO and that would prevent war. It's also possible Biden's handlers decided that a new war would be a great opportunity to try out some fancy new drones, make oodles of money for Raytheon and Boeing, and dig our claws into the Ukraine like a loan shark for that sweet sweet mineral sauce.

Why speculate? It's only grinding up young Ukrainian men and destroying their nation. At least they're making progress this year...let's hope it lasts.

I think the reason he said that was to get more people on board to back Ukraine. Bush said the same about Iraq that the oil there would pay for it. America is not going to get rich with any part of Ukraine. It is better to keep it out of the hands of the enemy though I suspect it is years away from recovery and Putin will be dead by then. The real part of this is if Lindsey is right about Putin's ambitions. Given the coziness to other nations that don't like what the USA stands for we can't trust him. We must deter this ugly coalition. Ukraine is the front lines and the USA and EU need to do more to help themselves. (yes it helps us) Right now Ukraine is doing the heavy lifting. Sadly, more conflict from the axis of evil will likely eventually require more American blood too. Putin should have a chance to join NATO. Crazy? It happened before. Putin Says He Discussed Russia's Possible NATO Membership With Bill Clinton
What is the gripe if Russia joins NATO and denounces all territorial extensions? It will not happen because Russia is run by belligerent leaders who can't follow the USA because they want to overthrow the existing order rather than work with it. Restrictions on free speech and press, rights for citizens, commerce and religion are just part of what Russia and some others stand for. No the USA is not perfect but it is better than the alternatives. Unfair? No because for the most part these nations are left alone until they start with the territorial expansions. Western nations respect borders. Some might consider Israel an aggressor but correct me if i am wrong, but haven't they only taken land after they were attacked? yes there are still stupid land disputes around the world. I once listened to a divorce hearing where the couple could not come to terms with how much the joint business was worth. They judge gave them a week to come up with an agreement or the business would be sold and the proceeds split evenly. It really should be simpler
