Well, there is an anime for almost every genre (sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, sports, romance, etc). What is your favorite genre?
I find the animation style to be choppy, the plots appear discontinuous, character voices are over the top and mismatched with the characters. The overall impression is a lot of fake melodrama and a shortage of continuity.
Good sci- fi (there's a lot of rubbish around) along with good quality (historically realistic) historical fact and fiction.
I do agree with you, a lot of anime is like that. For myself, I like good sci-fi, such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Dune, and Interstellar.
